The National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) said that on July 30, the national electricity system recorded a maximum capacity of 52,139 MW - the highest level since the beginning of the year and a new record, an increase of 2,592 MW, up 5.2% over the same period in 2024. Daily electricity consumption reached 1,070 million kWh, up 4.3% over the same period last year.

On the same day, Hanoi Electricity Corporation also recorded the highest electricity consumption ever, with a maximum capacity of 5,561 MW at 2:00 p.m. and daily electricity consumption of 110.7 million kWh.
According to NSMO, electricity demand has skyrocketed due to the impact of prolonged heat waves in the North and many Central regions, with common temperatures ranging from 35–38°C, with some places above 38°C.
Some localities recorded high temperatures including: Hoa Binh (Phu Tho) 38.6°C, Ham Yen (Tuyen Quang) 38.2°C and Lang (Hanoi) 38.1°C.
Despite the high load, the power system is still operating safely and stably, fully meeting the electricity demand nationwide. At the time of maximum capacity, key 500kV transformer stations operate within technical limits with load levels: Thuong Tin is approximately 98%, Pho Noi is 94%, Tay Ha Noi is 88%, Dong Anh is 89%, Hiep Hoa is 82%, Hoa Binh is 89%; the lowest voltage recorded in Viet Tri is approximately 488 kV.
The dispatching was carried out effectively, contributing to ensuring the power system operates continuously, economically and reliably, and maintaining grid stability during peak hot weather.
