NAPAS launches Tap & Pay mobile payment service

ANTD.VN - Tap & Pay mobile payment service allows digitizing NAPAS cards on Mobile Banking application so that customers can use smartphones to pay for goods and services without having to carry a physical card.

On December 24, 2024, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) announced the launch of the Tap & Pay mobile payment service, which allows digitizing NAPAS cards on the banking application (Mobile Banking App) so that customers can use their smartphones to pay for goods and services without having to carry a physical card.

The launch of the Tap & Pay mobile payment service is a continuation of the Tap to Phone service - a digital solution for mobile payment acceptance devices (soft POS) that NAPAS launched in 2023.

With this payment service, customers will register with the NAPAS card issuing bank to integrate the physical card features on the Mobile Banking App. The payment process is simple and easy by touching the phone to the card payment acceptance machine (POS or soft POS), the payment transaction will be completed in just a few seconds.

Sharing about the service deployment goal, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - General Director of NAPAS said: "The Tap & Pay mobile payment service is part of the mobile payment development roadmap based on contactless chip card technology and digital infrastructure of NAPAS. The service is expected to contribute to promoting customers' spending habits with NAPAS cards by bringing a modern, convenient, safe and fast payment experience to users."

At the time of launching the Tap & Pay service, NAPAS cooperated with the first bank, Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank - NAM A Bank, to provide the service to customers.

In the coming time, NAPAS will continue to expand the service to the remaining member organizations. When the service is widely deployed, the Tap & Pay mobile payment method will be accepted at a network of nearly 900,000 NAPAS card payment acceptance points nationwide.

NAPAS cards issued by Vietnamese banks and financial companies have product lines including Debit cards, Prepaid cards, Credit cards and Dual cards that integrate both debit and credit cards in one physical card.

NAPAS cards are deployed according to the VCCS Standard Set managed by NAPAS, meeting the Basic Standards on Chip Cards of the State Bank and the EMV International Organization. Advanced chip technology is applied in the card to enhance security, safety and security, and support the prevention of fraudulent and counterfeit card transactions.

Regarding payment scope, NAPAS cards can not only be used for domestic payments but can also be used for payments at card acceptance points and/or cash withdrawals at ATMs in some countries in the region including Korea, Thailand, Laos...
