Nepal calls up squad to play Vietnam, including futsal players

TPO - The Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has just announced the list of the national team participating in the match with Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This list includes 23 names under the leadership of head coach Matt Ross.

Most of the Nepalese players are unknown.

Notably, this South Asian team has just called up Mani Kumar Lama. He is a futsal player. Lama has been playing futsal professionally since 2019. This player participated in the 2020 Asian futsal qualifiers. He scored 3 goals for the team in the qualifiers.

The reason why Lama had to quit futsal was probably because there was no opportunity to compete. Nepal did not have a national futsal championship, and the national team did not have any matches from 2019 to 2022. That is why in 2022, he tried his hand at field football. When futsal activities resumed, Lama switched to 11-a-side football.

According to the plan, the Nepal team will gather and quickly leave for Vietnam. The team will play both Asian Cup 2027 qualifying matches in Vietnam, including the first leg on October 9 and the return leg on October 14.
