PV Dan Viet had a conversation with Miss Ý Nhi about her current life in Australia and celebrating Lunar New Year 2024 away from home.
Miss Ý Nhi learns and strives to improve herself every day.
2023 must have been a memorable milestone in Miss Ý Nhi's life. Is there anything you are happy about and anything you regret when looking back on this period?
- 2023 brought me an amazing journey at Miss World Vietnam. Becoming the winner of Miss World Vietnam was a major and meaningful milestone in my youth. However, there were some things that happened that I didn't want to happen, but I understand that this world is vast and I still need to improve myself. I continued my studies at the University of Sydney, always listening, learning, and improving myself every day.
Currently, what are Miss Ý Nhi's experiences regarding life, friendships, and part-time jobs in Australia?
- I feel that everyone here is very friendly and sociable. This has given me very good experiences in my studies, work, etc.
Specifically, what does a busy day look like for Miss Ý Nhi?
- My typical day starts with going to school in the morning. Then, I go to school and work in the afternoon, do homework, study online, and clean the house.
What part-time jobs is Miss Ý Nhi currently doing, and what are her plans to do, in Australia?
Currently, I work as a sales assistant at a store in Sydney. This job helps me learn how to communicate in everyday life and also gives me the opportunity to learn more about fashion. At the same time, I use the money I earn to help many people in need.

Miss Ý Nhi reveals her first time celebrating Tet online.
This year also marks the first time Miss Ý Nhi is celebrating Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) in Australia. Having to be away from home and loved ones during this time of family reunion, what are the feelings of the reigning Miss World Vietnam?
- Since this is my first time celebrating Tet away from home, I'm bound to feel homesick, missing the days leading up to Tet when I cleaned the house and made banh chung (traditional rice cakes). Therefore, I hope I can arrange to go back to my hometown next Tet to reunite with my family.
When celebrating Lunar New Year 2024 away from home, what special things has Miss Ý Nhi planned to do in the West?
- Since people in Australia celebrate the Gregorian New Year, I will still be going to school and work during the 2024 Lunar New Year. Besides that, I will take the opportunity to visit temples to light incense and pray for a new year filled with joy and happiness. I will also call home to celebrate the New Year online (laughs).
In Miss Ý Nhi's memories of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), which Tet celebration is the most unforgettable?
- My most memorable Tet (Lunar New Year) memory is from when I was a child, my sisters and I would practice singing "Five Golden Apricot Blossoms" and sing it for the whole family on the morning of the first day of Tet. Instead of exchanging New Year's greetings, we would sing and dance together to receive lucky money from everyone in the family.
What are some of the delicious dishes and traditional customs during the Lunar New Year celebrations in Miss Vietnam Ý Nhi's family?
- My favorite Tet (Lunar New Year) dishes are banh chung (sticky rice cake) and braised pork. Last Tet, I successfully made banh chung, so I hope that if I can find enough ingredients in Australia, I will make banh chung again and film a vlog to share with everyone (laughs).
Gaining weight during Tet (Vietnamese New Year) is unavoidable. Has Miss Vietnam Ý Nhi ever faced this? Do you have any "secrets" to maintaining your slim figure, especially during Tet?
Actually, I'm someone who finds it a bit difficult to gain weight, so during Tet (Lunar New Year), I tend to eat quite freely.
What are Miss Ý Nhi's wishes and plans for the new year of the Dragon 2024?
- My goal for the Year of the Dragon 2024 is to excel in my studies and further improve myself. My team and I also have projects planned for the coming year, and we hope for your continued support and interest.
Thank you, Miss Ý Nhi, for sharing the information!
