(CLO) On November 25, Elon Musk's brain technology company Neuralink announced that it had received approval to conduct research using brain implants and robotic arms in a new trial.
Neuralink is conducting the PRIME study to test the initial effectiveness of brain tissue implants and robotic arms, to help quadriplegic patients control external devices using only their thoughts.
Neuralink says it plans to recruit participants for a feasibility study from the ongoing PRIME trial.

Last week, the company received approval from Health Canada to conduct trials of its device in Canada. Neurosurgeons in Canada, collaborating with the company, have been approved to recruit six paralyzed patients to participate in the study.
In the US, Neuralink has implanted this device in two patients. The device allowed the first patient to play video games, browse the web, post on social media, and move the cursor on their laptop.
The company said its device worked well on a second test patient, who used it to play video games and learn how to design 3D objects.
