According to an official announcement from the New Zealand government, Mr. Peters will begin his diplomatic journey from February 20 to March 2, with destinations including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China, Mongolia and South Korea.

In the Middle East, the visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE is considered a strategic step to strengthen long-term relations with the two regional powers.

“New Zealand has longstanding and valuable relationships with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, both of which are influential players in their regions. The visit will focus on building economic growth opportunities, as well as discussing Middle East issues,” Deputy Prime Minister Peters said.

During his visit to Riyadh, Deputy Prime Minister Peters will use the opportunity at the 2025 Saudi Cup - one of the world's most prestigious horse racing events - to connect with potential investors in the horse racing sector.

He will also watch the IBF world heavyweight title fight between Kiwi boxer Joseph Parker and British opponent Daniel Dubois, promoting New Zealand's image in sport and commerce.

The next important destination is Beijing, where Mr. Peters will hold high-level talks with Chinese officials, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on regional and global Pacific issues of mutual concern.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Peters, China "is one of New Zealand's most important and complex relationships, with areas of trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges", so Wellington will maintain regular political dialogue with Beijing.

In Ulaanbaatar, the focus of the visit will be on promoting cooperation in agriculture and tourism, and celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Mongolia.

The trip will end in Seoul, with a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, to explore new economic development opportunities.
