“Kiev attempted to carry out terrorist attacks on Russian territory using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs),” the Russian Defense Ministry announced, saying that the country's air defense forces had detected a total of 42 UAVs.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, all UAVs were disabled, of which 9 UAVs were shot down in Crimea, and 33 others were suppressed by electronic warfare systems and failed to achieve their targets.

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev also confirmed the attack on Crimea. Citing preliminary data, he said several drones were destroyed in waters near Cape Chersonesus in the western part of the Crimean peninsula. He said local emergency services had not recorded any damage to civilian infrastructure.
The information was released after the Russian Defense Ministry said its air defense forces shot down a Soviet-era Ukrainian S-200 missile over the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow.
Following Kiev's missile attack, Russian authorities quickly closed the airspace above Moscow's Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports.
Ukraine said on August 23 that it had destroyed a Russian S-400 missile system in Crimea, dealing a "painful blow" to the enemy's air defense system.
On August 24, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that Ukrainian military intelligence and the navy carried out a "special operation" overnight to raise the flag in the Crimean peninsula.
Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula after a referendum in 2014. Ukraine and Western countries said Moscow's move was illegal. Ukraine has vowed to take back Crimea "at all costs", including military means.
Recently, Ukrainian forces have increased attacks on Russian ammunition depots and logistics facilities on the Crimean peninsula, as well as repeatedly attacked the Crimean bridge.
