The statement was issued by the Kremlin after a five-hour meeting on December 3 in Moscow between Putin and President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, along with Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it would be inaccurate to assume that Putin had rejected the US proposal, as this meeting was the first direct exchange on the peace proposal.
According to him, partial acceptance and rejection are normal developments in the negotiation process. However, a Kremlin aide stated that "no compromise has yet been found."

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said the exchange between Putin and the US delegation revolved around documents related to the US proposal, with territorial issues being the central theme. He did not elaborate on the peace plan that the US is promoting.
Meanwhile, according to the Kyiv Post, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Brussels, but the meeting was canceled. Zelenskyy was expected to discuss matters with the US delegation after their visit to Moscow, but plans changed and he left Brussels to return to Ukraine.
Following the meeting at the Kremlin, the US side informed Russia that the delegation would fly directly back to the US, without stopping in Kyiv.
