Russia fires, destroys Ukrainian ammunition train (Video: Russian Ministry of Defense ).
The Russian Defense Ministry said on September 30 that Russian forces attacked a railway cargo unloading site in the Nikolaev region of southern Ukraine, destroying 12 train cars loaded with ammunition.
The attack was carried out using the Iskander-M missile system and targeted a railway hub in the village of Kazanka.
The Russian Defense Ministry also provided a drone video showing a missile hitting what appeared to be a train. Another video showed a second strike on a target that appeared to be moving along the tracks.
The head of the Nikolaev regional administration, Vitaly Kim, said only that important infrastructure in the region was damaged in a fire following an attack in the Bashtansky district.
Ukrainian media reported that the attack described by Mr. Kim involved a railway. The State Railways of Ukraine also announced that part of the track was temporarily closed due to the attack.
The Russian military continues to carry out high-precision strikes on Ukrainian military facilities, including mercenary bases, defense, industrial and energy facilities. Moscow insists these attacks never target civilians.
