Geolocated video posted by the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) shows Russian troops moving closer to the northwest of Krasnohorivka and the east of the industrial zone on the outskirts of Avdiivka. In the video, Russian armored vehicles attack several Ukrainian positions in the industrial zone.
Russian military bloggers say Moscow forces have taken control of the entire industrial zone next to the Yasynuvata-2 station. However, this information has not been verified. According to ISW, Russia only controls part of the industrial zone in Avdiivka.
In addition, the Russian army continued to organize attacks on the Kupyansk - Svatove - Kreminna defense line on November 26 and achieved certain progress.
Video posted the same day showed Russian troops advancing southwest of Pershotravneve (24km east of Kupyansk).
The Ukrainian General Staff said that the country's army repelled Russian attacks in the areas of Synkivka (8km northeast of Kupyansk), Ivanivka (20km southeast of Kupyansk), Novoselivske (14km northwest of Svatove) and the Serebrianka forestry area (10km southwest of Kreminna).
Also on November 26, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces were continuing offensive operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk province, causing losses in manpower and equipment to the Russian army.
Meanwhile, Russia unsuccessfully attacked in the west and southwest of Donetsk. Earlier, on the night of November 25-26, Russian forces conducted a series of attacks using Iranian-made Shahed drones in Ukraine.
In response, on November 26, the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR) is said to have conducted a large-scale drone attack on Russian territory.
Avdiivka is considered a strategic city, the gateway to Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Before the conflict, the city had a population of about 32,000, but now has only about 1,500.
For over a month now, Avdiivka has been the target of fierce Russian attacks, which are seen as part of Russia’s strategy to push deeper into Ukraine’s stronghold in the East.
Observers say Russia is applying similar tactics to Bakhmut to capture Avdiivka by mobilizing large numbers of soldiers and equipment for large-scale attacks.
Russia is said to have officially launched its third and most intense attack on the city, with a large number of Russian infantry massing to attack Ukrainian defense positions here on both the northern and southern flanks.
"The scene is very fierce. Russia is trying to exhaust our defense line," said a Ukrainian commander.
However, so far, the Ukrainian army has maintained control of important supply routes into the city.
