One of the publicly available videos shows that a group of the assault company of the 98th Airborne Division (Russia) entered the stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the town of Chasov Yar. Russian firepower also blocked the counterattack efforts of Ukrainian forces.
In the Avdiivka direction, the situation is also very tense for the Armed Forces of Ukraine as soldiers face increasing pressure from the Russian army. After withdrawing from the outskirts of Donetsk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost control of several nearby settlements and continued to retreat. On the contrary, the Russian army is strengthening its position by taking control of the village of Lastochkino.
The Ukrainian military command planned to block the advance of Russian troops on this defense line, but before they could establish defensive positions, tank units of Russian forces attacked.
Ukrainian analysts noted that Russian tanks suddenly stormed Tonenkoye and gained a foothold in the village, forcing the Armed Forces of Ukraine to retreat due to insufficient means of confrontation. Russian infantry has also approached the perimeter of neighboring villages, making Ukraine's situation more complicated.
Particularly attracting attention are reports about the situation in Orlovka. This is a place that is being attacked by the Russian army from three directions at the same time. According to AVP, there is a high possibility that Ukrainian troops will have to retreat to avoid being surrounded.
On February 27, AVP also informed that the Russian army is continuing to advance north. Russian troops were advancing especially rapidly in Krasnogorovka and were fighting in the southern streets of the city. In addition, Ukrainian positions in Novomikhailovka and surrounding settlements were also attacked.
Russian drones, air power and artillery have caused significant problems for Ukrainian military logistics, especially in the Chasy Yar area. According to AVP, the advances of Russian military units in this direction have prepared the ground for large-scale offensive operations.
