Enjoying the cherry blossoms in South Korea

The cherry blossoms at Gyeonghwa Station in Gyeongsangnam Province, which are no longer in operation, have become a popular tourist attraction.

The Korea Tourism Organization announced on February 19th the cherry blossom blooming schedule nationwide for 2025. Cherry blossoms typically bloom for two weeks, from the time they begin to open until they wither.

The cherry blossom season in South Korea in 2025 is expected to begin in late March and last until mid-April. In Seoul, the blossoms will start blooming on March 28th and reach their peak from April 3rd to 10th. Visitors can visit Yeouido, home to a famous cherry blossom festival with thousands of trees in bloom along the Han River. Incheon and Suwon also have similar blooming schedules, with attractions such as Hwaseong Fortress and Songdo Park.

In the southern part of Jeju Island, the cherry blossom season begins as early as March 20th, peaking between March 27th and April 1st. This is the ideal time to combine cherry blossom viewing with exploring famous destinations such as Mount Hallasan, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, and Hyeopjae Beach. Enjoying fresh seafood and hallobong tangerines is an experience not to be missed when traveling to Jeju during cherry blossom season.

The coastal city of Busan has its cherry blossoms in full bloom from March 30th to April 3rd, with Dalmaji Hill Park being a popular spot for viewing. Central regions like Daejon and Jeonju experience peak blooms in early April, with Jeonju Hanok Village being a highlight, where visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms while experiencing traditional Korean culture.

To the east, Gangneung and Chuncheon have a cherry blossom season that lasts until April 10th, ideal for combining cherry blossom viewing with exploring beautiful beaches or trying Chuncheon's specialty ginseng chicken stew.

According to a survey of several airlines during the period of April 1-6, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom in many places, airfares from Ho Chi Minh City to Korea range from approximately 4.2 to 6.9 million VND in economy class. Travel agencies report that cherry blossom season and autumn foliage season are two of the most popular times for Vietnamese tourists to visit Korea. Tours from Ho Chi Minh City start from 16 million VND, with diverse itineraries such as Seoul - Nami - Everland, allowing visitors to admire cherry blossoms at Yeouido Park and Nami Island, and enjoy the attractions at Everland. The Seoul - Busan - Gyeongju tour is famous for the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival. The Seoul - Jeju - Nami tour is suitable for tourists who enjoy close-to-nature experiences. All tours have departure dates from the end of March.

A representative from a travel company in Ho Chi Minh City said that tourists are usually interested in flower-viewing tours from the end of February to the beginning of March. The flower-viewing program in the tour depends heavily on the weather, the blooming time of the flowers, and the waiting time for visa application procedures. Tourists who do not yet have visas usually plan early, 1-2 months in advance.
