According to the My Thuan Project Management Board ( Ministry of Construction ), the land clearance work for phase 1 of the My An - Cao Lanh expressway project has reached over 95%, basically meeting the requirements for the construction of the main components of the project. The Department of Construction of Dong Thap province has also granted a construction permit to the foreign contractor Dongbu (South Korea).
On July 21st, the board also signed contract package No. 7 - construction of the My An - Cao Lanh expressway with the joint venture of Dongbu Corporation (South Korea) and VNCN E&C Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (Vietnam).
Given the above conditions, the My Thuan Project Management Board assessed that the project is eligible to hold the groundbreaking ceremony on July 26th, and recommended that the Ministry of Construction approve the plan to proceed with the next steps.
The My An - Cao Lanh Expressway, Phase 1, spanning nearly 27km through Dong Thap province, is part of the Western North-South Expressway. In Phase 1, the project will clear the land in one go according to the plan for 6 lanes and invest in 4 lanes initially. The total investment for the project is VND 6,127 billion, of which VND 4,462 billion comes from ODA loans from the South Korean government, and VND 1,665 billion is domestic counterpart funding.
At the contract signing ceremony for package number 7 with the Dongbu - VNCN E&C (Vietnam) consortium on July 21st, Mr. Tran Van Thi - Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board - requested the units to quickly implement the work as required, ensuring progress, quality, and safety during construction.
This project is funded by ODA from the South Korean government , so the investor requested that the contractor Dongbu use modern equipment and techniques to ensure the best efficiency and quality.
According to Mr. Thi, the project has currently achieved approximately 95% land clearance, which is a very favorable condition for contractors to begin construction. In addition, construction materials such as sand and stone have been prepared. Therefore, the units need to strive to achieve about 10-15% of the construction value by the end of the year, ensuring the project's disbursement schedule.
Representing the consortium of contractors, Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung - Director of VNCN E&C Company - committed to immediately implementing the project after signing the contract with the spirit of "swift victory, overcoming sun and rain".
Thanks to thorough preparation from the investor and contractor, especially regarding the supply of sand, the consortium expects to shorten the construction time to approximately 30 months, bringing the expressway into operation sooner and contributing to the socio-economic development of Dong Thap province and the Mekong Delta region.
