These days, most swimming pools in Tam Ky City and Nui Thanh District have a large number of children brought by their parents to learn how to swim and cool off. The pools are fully equipped with flotation devices such as life jackets, buoys, sticks, etc. and there are often swimming instructors to teach and supervise the children's learning.

After more than 5 years of teaching swimming, teacher Nguyen Van Minh (Bich Nam village, Tam Xuan 2 commune, Nui Thanh) said that May is also the time when students are on summer vacation, and many parents bring their children to register for swimming lessons. Each class has 5-7 students ranging from 6-15 years old.

“In swimming classes, students are equipped with basic skills to ensure safety in the water environment, crawling skills, breaststroke, backstroke, anti-drowning skills for children when participating in swimming; instructions on how to prevent drowning, first aid in case of drowning” – Mr. Minh shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mang (Tra Ly village, Tam Anh Bac commune, Nui Thanh) said that every week she takes her son to the swimming pool to learn swimming skills and water safety.

“I think it is necessary to send my child to swimming lessons, as it helps them to be healthier and learn how to swim to ensure safety in the water environment. Besides, my child can interact and learn from friends of the same age in swimming classes,” said Ms. Mang.

Mr. Huynh Minh Phat (Tra Ly village, Tam Anh Bac commune, owner of Minh Chi Phat swimming pool) said that his family has 2 swimming pools for children. The number of visitors coming to swim is quite large, mainly on Saturdays and Sundays with about 100 people from the locality and neighboring communes. Swimming classes take place in the morning and afternoon every day. Each class has a swimming teacher and drowning prevention skills.

“We regularly have to assign instructors to be on duty to ensure the safety of swimmers. In addition, we always change the water and clean the pool so that children can come to learn and experience comfortably. In addition, we also coordinate with district unions and schools to organize free swimming classes for students in difficult circumstances,” Mr. Phat shared.
