On December 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport announced the organization of train operations on urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) to serve the New Year 2025.
Accordingly, in order to serve travel needs during the 2025 New Year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport announced changes to the train schedule, increased the number of trips and adjusted passenger service times on December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025.
Today (December 31, 2024), the Ho Chi Minh City metro line will operate 220 trains from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (an increase of 1 hour compared to the daily schedule). The interval between rush hours is 8 minutes/trip; other time frames are 10-12 minutes/trip.

On January 1, 2025, in addition to the 200 daily scheduled trains from 5:00 to 22:00, 14 additional trains will depart from 0:30 to 2:00 a.m. This is to serve the travel needs of people after the Countdown night to welcome the new year 2025.
Specifically, from Ben Thanh Station (District 1) to Suoi Tien Bus Station (Thu Duc City), the first trip departs at 0:30, the last trip departs at 2:00, with an interval of 8 minutes/trip.
On the way back from Suoi Tien Bus Station (Thu Duc City) to Ben Thanh Station (District 1), the first trip departs at 1:03 a.m. at Suoi Tien Bus Station, the last trip departs at 1:27 a.m., with an interval of 8 minutes/trip.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Transport Company No. 1 (HURC1, the operator), in the first 8 days of official operation (from December 22 to December 29), Ho Chi Minh City metro operated more than 1,560 trains, serving 908,109 passengers. On average, more than 113,500 passengers take the train every day.
The operator also said that from January 2, 2025, passengers traveling by HCMC metro must use the QR code on the HCMC METRO app or a Mastercard to scan when entering and exiting the ticket gate. For the elderly, children, and those without smartphones and Mastercards, station staff will provide support and specific instructions.
To receive a QR code to take the HCMC metro for free during the initial phase of operation, in addition to using a Mastercard, people can download the "HCMC Metro HURC" app. Then, on the application's home screen, select "Go Metro" to receive the QR code.
