The guests attending included Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Intelligence Colonel Nguyen Van Tau (alias Tu Cang); Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Mai, wife of Hero of the People's Armed Forces Tran Van Lai; Mr. Lam Quoc Dung - a specialist in making "blue dragon ID cards".

The play recreates the life of intelligence colonel Tu Cang.

Nguyen Viet Am - head of the organizing committee - shared with Tuoi Tre Online : "The idea for the program started from the sacred emotion towards the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.

From that historical flow, the memoir Tears of the Day of Meeting by Armed Forces Hero Tu Cang became the main source of inspiration, igniting the desire to recreate tragic but humane memories.

The play lasts 90 minutes, including three acts: Deserving the Promise - Through the Fire - Until Tomorrow.

The story begins when Tu leaves home to fulfill his duty to protect the country. When he leaves, he leaves behind his old mother and pregnant wife with the promise of a safe return.

For nearly 30 years away from his family, Mr. Tu was attached to intelligence work at the H63 intelligence cluster, always in a state of danger, unable to contact his wife and children.

All the difficulties did not make Tu falter. He always nurtured the dream of reunification, believing that only when the country was at peace , would his small dream be complete.

After watching the play, Armed Forces Hero Tu Cang could not hide his emotions when recalling old memories, feeling happy that today's young generation is paying enthusiastic attention to national history.

Although he is 98 years old, Mr. Tu Cang still remembers and tells about the days of working as an intelligence agent, fighting for independence for the country. During his entire revolutionary career, Mr. Tu Cang only had a few short months to live with his wife. After that, he worked as an intelligence agent for 28 years, far away from his family.

During his years as the commander of the intelligence unit, he was forced to change his name and live under many covers to protect his identity, never once returning home, even though the distance was only a hair's breadth. It was not until he was reunited with his wife and children that he was 47 years old and held his grandchild in his arms for the first time.

The story of forging 'blue dragon ID'

Mr. Lam Quoc Dung (Dung Rau) is the person behind the "perfect covers" that help hundreds of officers and soldiers operate safely and openly in the heart of the enemy through forging personal documents, especially ID cards.

He recalled that at that time, the process of making fake documents was extremely urgent. The military region needed to gather about 200 soldiers. Most of them did not have documents and could not enter the city to fight. Therefore, he had to find a way to get them documents before Tet so they could assemble in time for the battle.

After the 1968 Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising, many commandos were killed or captured, and the enemy discovered their fake identities.

The old government changed the new ID card, using modern American printing technology, with a blue dragon printed in reflective ink in the middle, so people called it "blue dragon ID".

The most difficult point is the image of a green dragon curled up right in the middle of the card - a sophisticated embossed detail, extremely difficult to counterfeit by manual means at that time.

But with determination, he chose the clearest blue dragon ID card, then meticulously aligned the dragon image many times. When he achieved the highest accuracy, he used that copy to print the ID card.

People's Armed Forces Hero Tran Van Lai made many great contributions in the resistance war against America. Behind that hero is the silent figure of Mrs. Dang Thi Tuyet Mai - a gentle wife who silently sacrificed her youth to protect her husband's cover.

She recounted the miserable years when, despite being the official wife, she accepted the reputation of being a "young woman who stole a husband" for 10 years just to hide her husband's identity as a Saigon special forces soldier.

Neighbors looked at her with contempt. People did not hesitate to use the most vicious and vile words to insult and curse her. Many times she was assaulted, cursed, and even robbed by the wives of officers of the Republic of Vietnam.

All profits from the fundraising drama program "Save for Tomorrow" were donated to the Long Dat Nursing Center for War Invalids and Meritorious People located in Long Hai town, Long Dien district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, established in 1977.

This is a public service unit under the Department of Meritorious People (Ministry of Home Affairs) to care for, treat, rehabilitate and implement policies for seriously wounded soldiers in the Southern region.

Mr. Tong Duc Binh - director of the center, said that the facility is currently providing health care for 46 wounded soldiers from more than 20 provinces and cities across the country. The wounded soldiers have gone through two periods: the period of fighting against the US and the period of protecting the southwestern border.

The center's wounded soldiers are level 1/4 wounded soldiers, with a disability rate of over 81%. Many wounded soldiers have special wounds such as: spinal injuries causing complete paralysis of both lower limbs, traumatic brain injuries causing mental disorders, amputations, abdominal injuries, chest injuries, firearm injuries causing complete loss of both eyes...
