Comedian Vu Duc
Mr. Nguyen Trung, Chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, said that the son of artist Vu Duc reported on the evening of August 30th that his father had shown signs of recovery, but this morning (August 31st) he passed away. The family is preparing for the funeral.
Comedian Vu Duc was born in 1953. He was a famous comedian in the 1980s and 1990s. His name became popular with the public through plays such as: "Cao Cao", "Taking You Back to My Mother's Hometown", "I'll Marry You in the New Year", "Because of Poverty", "Whose Fate", "Chung Vo Diem", "One Day as King"...
Despite his small stature, he possesses a charming comedic style and a very distinctive way of singing humorous vọng cổ (traditional Vietnamese folk songs).
His peak was associated with close co-stars such as artists Hong Nga, My Chi, and To Kieu Lan... He won the Gold Medal at the National Professional Theatre Festival for his role as Mr. Loc in the play "Nameless Dream" in 1995.
In 2005, artist Vu Duc unexpectedly suffered a stroke. Since then, he has been unable to continue his artistic activities. The aftereffects of the stroke caused his limbs to contract, making movement difficult, so he has been confined to his home for many years.

For many years, he was on the list of the "Artists' Appreciation" program organized by People's Artist Kim Cương, and every year at that time, his nephew would drive him from Binh Duong to the City Theater to receive gifts and meet his colleagues.
Recently, the Five Dragons Journey group, including Phi Phụng, Phương Dung, Thụy Mười, and others, visited comedian Vũ Đức upon hearing that he was seriously ill.
Huynh Duy Khuong, nephew of comedian Vu Duc, said: "Besides the after-effects of a stroke, he also had lung cancer. For about a month, he gradually weakened and could no longer tolerate medication, so the hospital sent him home. In recent days, he stopped eating and needed nursing care, but he didn't improve. After a period of time on oxygen, he occasionally managed to drink a few spoonfuls of porridge and milk, and then passed away, leaving the family in deep sorrow."
