The remarkable mark of Vietnamese circus artist on the international stage: People's Artist Tong Toan Thang – known to the public by the nickname "Prince of Pythons" – continues to add another memorable milestone to his career as he has been invited for the fifth consecutive time to participate in the judging panel of the International Circus Festival for Female Circus Artists in Saratov, Russia.

"This is considered the only international circus festival in the world dedicated exclusively to female circus artists, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Circus System of the Russian Federation, bringing together many leading circus artists, directors, and experts from many countries. I am very honored and happy to be invited to participate for the fifth time," shared People's Artist Tong Toan Thang.

The fact that a Vietnamese artist has been consistently invited to participate in the expert panel for five consecutive years demonstrates recognition of his professional prestige and contributions to the world of circus art.

From "Python Prince" to a leading figure in Vietnamese circus.

Born in 1967, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang is one of the artists with a remarkable career path in Vietnamese circus art.

He rose to fame with his snake circus act "Thach Sanh Defeats the Ogre to Rescue the Princess," earning him the nickname "Prince of Snakes" from the public.

He has held the position of Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation since 2023, and is also a prominent figure in directing, training, and managing circus arts.

Beyond performing, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang is also the director behind many award-winning international acts, contributing to making the image of Vietnamese circus increasingly prominent on the world circus map.

Many of the performances he choreographed have won top prizes at major festivals in Russia, Kazakhstan, and other countries.

Sharing his feelings about being invited to be a judge for the fifth time in Saratov, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang emotionally stated: "This is not only a personal honor but also a source of pride for Vietnamese circus art. Being invited for five consecutive years makes me feel even more responsible for learning, connecting, and bringing international experiences back to serve the development of circus in our country."

He also argued that the international festival environment is not only a place for professional evaluation but also an important opportunity for circus arts to meet, exchange new creative trends, and thereby expand opportunities for cooperation for young Vietnamese artists.
