According to The Drive today, August 16 (Vietnam time), China's illegal construction of a new runway on Tri Ton Island in the Paracel Islands began just a few weeks ago. This runway appears to be nearly 610 meters long and nearly 14 meters wide, according to The Drive .
Satellite images taken on August 10 show what appears to be an illegal runway being built by China on Tri Ton Island in the Hoang Sa archipelago under Vietnam's sovereignty.

The Drive examined satellite images taken by Planet Labs from mid-July and found no such activity.

Some satellite images also show a huge new work area, including a cement factory, on Tri Ton Island, according to The Drive . After the information was published, until noon today, Beijing has not responded to this issue.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang has repeatedly affirmed that Vietnam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.
