Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thanh Phong speaks at the meeting.
The main objective of this project is to research, propose, and implement a model for community-based tourism among the S'tieng people and other ethnic groups, aiming to bring economic , cultural, and environmental benefits to the local community.
Specifically, the objectives include researching the current status and assessing the potential for community-based tourism development in the locality, focusing particularly on surveying and analyzing community-based tourism activities of the S'tieng people and other ethnic groups such as the Khmer, Mnong, and Kinh. Simultaneously, a comprehensive set of criteria will be developed to clearly identify the necessary factors such as economic, cultural, and environmental elements that create a successful community-based tourism model; a pilot project will be implemented in Bu Gia Map commune, and training and activities will be carried out to promote the community-based tourism model, aiming to create long-term economic, cultural, and environmental benefits for the local community.

The project leader presented the research findings to the council members.
According to the project leader, research results show that developing community-based tourism not only contributes to the effective exploitation of tourism resources but also promotes rural economic development. This model helps diversify livelihoods and increase income for people through homestay accommodation, local guides, and the provision of services, agricultural products, and traditional handicrafts. At the same time, the direct participation of people in organizing and managing tourism activities contributes to raising awareness of environmental protection, preserving landscapes, and conserving traditional cultural values.

Council members provide feedback on the project's acceptance.
At the meeting, council members analyzed and pointed out many potentials as well as notable bottlenecks in the development of community tourism in this area. In particular, after the merger with Dong Nai and becoming a centrally-governed city, the northern area of the city, centered around Bu Gia Map National Park and surrounding localities, possesses considerable potential and unique advantages for developing community tourism.
From there, the scientists proposed solutions for the project leader to finalize the research report and recommended that the relevant agencies develop a program and replicate the sustainable community tourism development model for other areas in the city; at the same time, a vote was held to approve the project, with the results meeting the research objectives.
