Following a site inspection of the 1,200-bed Ca Mau General Hospital project, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi visited the construction site of the Ca Mau Airport Expansion and Upgrade project.

A representative from the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) stated that the unit is actively addressing difficulties in the supply of sand and stone materials; and at the same time, urging contractors to focus equipment and personnel to accelerate the project's progress.
The Ca Mau Airport upgrade and expansion project has a total investment of VND 2,399 billion. Currently, two main packages have commenced construction: Package No. 12, which involves the construction and supply and installation of equipment for the runway, taxiway, aircraft parking area, and auxiliary facilities; and Package No. 20, which involves the construction and supply and installation of equipment for the passenger terminal and auxiliary facilities.
To date, package 12 has achieved approximately 43.4% of the contract value in terms of construction volume; package 20 has achieved approximately 36.4% in terms of construction value. Calibration flights are expected to begin on September 13th, and the aircraft is scheduled to be put into operation in October 2026.

During the inspection, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai stated that the province had proactively sent official letters requesting neighboring localities to prioritize providing sand and stone for the project.
Affirming that the expansion and upgrading of Ca Mau Airport is a strategic project that will create momentum to boost the province's economy to achieve double-digit growth , the Provincial Party Secretary requested the investor and construction units to race against time and closely monitor each progress milestone to ensure the project is put into operation on schedule.
Furthermore, Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai expressed his hope that after the airport becomes operational, Vietnam Airlines Corporation will prioritize recruiting and training local personnel, thereby linking the interests of Ca Mau people with the sustainable development of the aviation industry.
