“Joining V.League is a big challenge for me, especially when playing for a big team like Hanoi . I also want to challenge myself with the goal of winning the championship with the team this year,” Willian Maranhão shared before the capital team’s training session on the afternoon of August 20.
The Brazilian midfielder joined Hanoi right before the V.League kicked off. He stands out for his ability to control the game and support the defense, and is expected to bring solidity to the capital team's midfield. With a valuation of 900,000 euros on Transfermarkt, Maranhão has become one of the 10 most valuable players in the current V.League.
However, his journey in Vietnam did not start smoothly. In the opening round, Hanoi lost 1-2 away to CA TP.HCM. Maranhão said that it was a balanced match, but it also helped him clearly feel the harshness of the new football environment. “I have researched and known many Brazilian players coming to play in Vietnam. I also know that V.League is developing and very harsh. The last match showed that both teams have a chance. I am ready for the next challenge,” he said.
Before the match against HAGL in round 2, Maranhão emphasized the team's preparation: "We reviewed the previous match to gain experience. That is the first step in preparing for the upcoming match". The midfielder born in 1995 also reiterated the biggest goal with Hanoi: "I heard the coach say many times, we set the goal of winning the championship to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the team's founding".
The match between Hanoi and HAGL takes place at 7:15 p.m. on August 23 at Hang Day Stadium.
