Ngoc Hoa sits in the hot seat at Binh Dien Long An.

Despite achieving many important successes with VTV Binh Dien Long An, coach Thai Quang Lai unexpectedly lost his job right before the second round of the National Championship.

According to information from the VTV Binh Dien Long An volleyball team, coach Thai Quang Lai will not continue to lead the team from September 1, 2025, due to a lack of consensus on the club's development direction.

Replacing the head coach from Khanh Hoa will be Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa - a former star of Vietnamese volleyball. According to the club's management, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa will lead the team in the second round of the National Championship after returning from the National Youth Volleyball Club Cup currently taking place in Tam Dao, Phu Tho province.

Ngoc Hoa is a player who rose through the ranks of the Long An volleyball youth academy. After 14 years of playing at the highest level for VTV Binh Dien Long An and winning many titles both domestically and internationally, in 2020, Ngoc Hoa transitioned to coaching and led the U23 VTV Binh Dien Long An team to a bronze medal at the national youth championship.

After a period of focusing on youth training, in 2024, Ngoc Hoa unexpectedly returned to the court as a player (and assistant coach of VTV Binh Dien Long An team) to help her younger teammates win the 2024 national championship. In the first round of the 2025 National Championship, Ngoc Hoa continued to take on the role of player-coach, helping VTV Binh Dien Long An finish second in this stage and subsequently secure the runner-up position in the 2025 AVC Champions League.

At a higher level, in 2024, Coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa joined the coaching staff of the Vietnam U20 team, and this year, she is the head coach of the Vietnam women's national team participating in the Future Stars friendly tournament in China; she is also a member of the coaching staff of the Vietnam women's national team participating in two SEA V.League seasons and the 2025 World Championship.

The responsibility weighs heavily on Ngoc Hoa's shoulders, with the goal of helping VTV Binh Dien Long An defend their national championship title, especially with key players like Thanh Thuy (playing abroad) and Tra My (injured) unable to participate. The task is no easy one for the former captain of Binh Dien Long An and the national team, as many of her former colleagues have also been involved in coaching but none have succeeded as head coach.
