On the morning of the first day of the new year 2026, Thach Kim fishing port (Loc Ha commune) was bustling with activity as fishermen's boats returned after their first fishing trip of the year, bringing with them fresh, high-quality seafood. The atmosphere was lively with buying and selling; laughter and cheerful conversations mingled with the radiant smiles of the fishermen who had received their first "bounty from the sea" of the year, dispelling all the fatigue from their long journey at sea.

Fisherman Nguyen Tien Hai (from Loc Ha commune) said: “Early this morning, our boat docked at the port with the first fishing trip of the new year 2026. The weather at sea was favorable, and the boat had a good catch of about 700 kg of anchovies, so everyone is very excited.”
Sharing the joy of a bountiful catch from the first fishing trip of the year, Mr. Phan Van Tuan, the owner of a fishing boat in Thach Ha commune, said: " With the advantage of small boats that fish near the shore and return within the day, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, our boats operate at full capacity. The crew quickly replenish ice, prepare fishing gear, and refuel to continue going out to sea."

The bustling atmosphere at Thach Kim fishing port in the early days of the new year brought joy and motivation to the fishermen. This is also a positive sign for seafood exploitation activities in early 2026, contributing to stabilizing the livelihoods of the people and supplying fresh seafood to the market.
Along with fishermen, the purchasing activities of small traders at the fishing ports are also bustling. Many traders arrived very early at Thach Kim fishing port to wait for boats to dock and purchase seafood for sale. The buying and selling atmosphere is quick and lively; seafood is sorted and weighed right at the dock, helping fishermen sell their catch easily and earn some cash on hand after their first fishing trips of the year.

Ms. Tran Thi Huong, a seafood trader, said: "The New Year's holiday lasts for 4 days, so we have to proactively buy seafood early to ensure sufficient supply for the markets and our regular customers. The seafood at the beginning of the year is fresh and delicious, and the boats are returning regularly, so the purchasing process is smooth, and the traders are very happy."
Meanwhile, at Cua Nhuong fishing port (Thien Cam commune), many boats were busily preparing fishing gear, replenishing ice, refueling, and checking machinery to get ready for the first fishing trips of the year. The atmosphere was cheerful, with everyone hoping for a successful trip, bringing back holds full of seafood, marking the beginning of a productive year of production and exploitation.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Xuan (Phuc Hai village, Thien Cam commune) carefully mends each fishing net and thoroughly checks his fishing equipment. According to Mr. Xuan, this is the season for many types of fish near the shore, so the catch is quite stable, with each fishing trip potentially bringing in 3-4 million VND per day. The new, modern fishing port gives fishermen even more peace of mind and encourages them to venture further out to sea.
Currently, Thien Cam commune has over 220 fishing vessels, mainly small boats operating in offshore and nearshore areas. According to fishermen, this is the most favorable time of year to harvest many types of seafood near the shore, such as krill, shrimp, and anchovies. The atmosphere at the fishing ports and docks in the commune reflects the fishermen's determination to stay at sea and continue their production, hoping for a year of favorable weather and safe fishing.

Mr. Than Quoc Te, Deputy Director in charge of the Management Board of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing vessels in Ha Tinh, informed: "During the New Year's holiday, the weather at sea was relatively favorable, creating conditions for fishermen's boats to safely enter and leave the port."
The Ha Tinh Fishing Port and Wharf Management Board has also planned and deployed personnel to be on duty 24/7, coordinating with relevant units to regulate the entry and exit of vessels, ensuring security, order, and environmental hygiene; at the same time, strengthening monitoring and supervision of fishing activities, controlling records, logbooks, and vessel tracking devices, contributing to the strict implementation of regulations on combating IUU fishing.

The boats, fully equipped with fishing gear, set sail with renewed confidence and enthusiasm. For the fishermen, these voyages not only bring valuable income but also mark the beginning of a new fishing season, conveying their hopes for safe and successful voyages, thereby demonstrating their diligent, persistent, and unwavering spirit in overcoming difficulties.
