On August 25, while exploiting seafood in the Truong Sa sea area, fisherman Nguyen Van Lai (born in 1969, hometown Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province, crew member of fishing boat QNg 90640 TS) suddenly experienced symptoms of fatigue, numbness and weakness in the right side of his body, difficulty speaking, and headache.
At around 11am the same day, the patient was taken to the Truong Sa Island infirmary for emergency treatment. Through examination and diagnosis, the doctor determined that the patient had suffered a stroke, right hemiplegia due to cerebral infarction at the 11th hour, and needed to be closely monitored and differentiated from cerebral hemorrhage. Doctors on the island quickly performed fluid transfusion, protected brain cells, prevented cerebral edema, and controlled blood pressure; at the same time, performed necessary paraclinical tests, electrocardiograms, X-rays, tests, and online consultations with Military Hospital 175 to come up with an appropriate treatment regimen.
