Based on the 2025 high school graduation exam score distribution and new preferential policies, MSc. Pham Thai Son, admissions expert at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that this year's benchmark score for Pedagogy is likely to increase slightly, while there will be clear differentiation by industry.
Specifically, at major universities such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Hanoi University of Education, it is predicted that the benchmark scores will increase for majors such as Mathematics Pedagogy, Literature Pedagogy, English and Chinese Pedagogy... On the contrary, for majors with lower human resource demand, the benchmark scores may remain the same as last year.
"The Law on Teachers recently passed by the National Assembly creates more motivation and confidence for many students when choosing the Pedagogy major, contributing to increasing the level of competition in this year's admissions," Mr. Son emphasized.

Sharing the same view, Dr. Le Viet Khuyen - Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges commented that the Pedagogy industry continues to be a notable focus in this year's enrollment season.
In 2024, pedagogy is one of the four majors with the highest number of candidates registering, with an increase of up to 85% compared to the previous year. The benchmark score therefore also skyrocketed, approaching the absolute threshold. This attraction is promoted by special preferential policies: free tuition, living allowance and high employment opportunities after graduation.
According to Mr. Khuyen, the fact that the two leading teacher training colleges in the country, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, have expanded their own entrance exams in 2025, while the number of candidates registering to attend has increased sharply compared to the previous year, is clear evidence of the strong attraction of this industry.
"Although the number of candidates has increased, the enrollment quota is still limited, causing the competition rate to be high and the benchmark scores to fluctuate," Mr. Khuyen said, adding that completely eliminating the early admission form also means that candidates can only register their wishes once after knowing their exam scores, thereby increasing the density of wishes for top majors and schools and making benchmark scores more unpredictable.
“This year’s exam is highly differentiated. Whether the benchmark score increases or decreases will depend on the number of candidates registering and the total admission score. If more and more excellent students choose pedagogical majors, the possibility of the benchmark score increasing is very clear,” Dr. Khuyen commented.
