Cam Mountain Temple is located in Trang Da Commune, Tuyen Quang City. This is a unique and sacred temple with beautiful landscapes. This temple worships the Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm and is also famous for worshiping the “Snake God”. On the first day of the new year, people flock to the temple to burn incense, see a medium and ask for blessings from the saint.
Located about 5 km from the center of Tuyen Quang city, Cam Mountain Temple (the temple is located right at the foot of Cam Mountain) is one of the largest spiritual relics in Tuyen Quang.
Visitors to Cam Tuyen Quang Temple not only worship spiritually but also admire the majestic mountain scenery here.
In 2007, Cam Temple was recognized by the state as a provincial-level historical and spiritual relic. Tourists come to Cam Temple partly to worship the Mother Goddess, and partly to satisfy their curiosity about the famous stories about the "Snake God" here.
The snake statue at the “artificial rockery” is erected right at the entrance to the Forbidden Temple and on the main hall beam there are 4 snakes sewn from fabric, bright red and blue, with hoods, bright red crests, open mouths baring fangs looking down. According to local people, the Forbidden Temple was formed from a small temple in the early 20th century. Since the temple appeared, snakes from everywhere came to the temple to live. Because the small temple was so famous, it attracted people to come and worship. After many renovations, the temple became the spacious and beautiful temple it is today.
Coming to Cam Temple in the first days of the new year, visitors can immerse themselves in the colorful spiritual cultural space of the festival and the ritual of Hau Dong, an important element of the Heritage "Practicing the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people".
The first impression on the viewer is the costumes used in each bronze price.
The costumes in the Chau De Tam stage with white turban and white fan sparkling symbolizing Thoai Phu region. The costumes of Quan Lon, Quan Hoang Muoi, Hoang Bay stage exude majesty and power like the costumes of mandarins in feudal dynasties... In addition to the costumes, jewelry and accompanying items such as fans, headscarves, hats, and shoes in the Hau Dong ceremony are also processed according to tradition.
Amidst the bustling music , sweet singing voice and magical incense smoke, the steps and dance movements of the elderly medium are still rhythmic and agile.
When there is a price, people entering the ceremony normally do not crowd each other but voluntarily spread out to both sides of the altar to perform the ceremony.
People raise their hands to receive "holy gifts" such as fruits, cakes, mirrors, combs, money...
At this time, the number of visitors coming to offer prayers and watch the spirit mediumship increased day by day, there was no more room inside the temple, many people had to stand by the door, watching from afar. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (Trang Da commune, Tuyen Quang city) shared: "On the first day of the new year, I went to Cam temple to pray for peace, health and hope that my children would study well and progress."
In the Forbidden Temple there is also a sacred well, people often ask for water from the well to drink and wash their faces to pray for health and peace.
