In the friendly match between the Vietnamese national team and the Palestinian national team at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh) on the evening of September 11th, less than 10 minutes into the game, right-back Pham Trung Hieu suffered an injury and left the field, being replaced by Ho Tan Tai. More than 10 minutes later, left-back Trieu Viet Hung bled from his forehead after a strong mid-air collision with an opposing player and also had to leave the field on a stretcher, being replaced by Truong Tien Anh.
Both Trung Hieu and Viet Hung are key players for Hai Phong FC. This is the first time these two players have been called up to the national team and played for Vietnam under coach Troussier. The French coach tried out these two newcomers on the flanks to assess their abilities. However, the two defenders from the port city team had a less than expected debut.

After leaving the field, Trung Hieu was immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance. It is understood that the player suffered a fractured fibula in his right leg and had it put in a cast. Meanwhile, Trieu Viet Hung sustained soft tissue injuries, including a deep laceration to his forehead. The former HAGL midfielder required 20 stitches.
Two players from Hai Phong FC were unlucky, having to leave the field due to injury before they could even showcase their skills to coach Troussier. This is also bad news for the team, as Hai Phong FC is about to play in the AFC Cup and the 2023-2024 season is fast approaching. Pham Trung Hieu will certainly not recover in time to play for Hai Phong FC in the first few rounds of the new season. Hopefully, Trung Hieu will recover from his leg injury soon and return to football.
