Transform the training ground into an experience.

Born and raised in Hoan Lao commune, Quang Tri province, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Trang has spent 11 years teaching and training at Luong The Vinh High School. Sharing her reasons for choosing to study and teach National Defense and Security Education, a field often considered a strength of men, Ms. Thuy Trang said: "When I was a student, I was fortunate to learn from very dedicated teachers. They inspired and guided me into this path. I also enjoy physical training, so I feel I am well-suited to this subject. I always believe that whether male or female, as long as you have passion and responsibility, you can be dedicated to and do your job well.”

To foster student engagement in the subject, Ms. Trang always emphasizes innovative teaching methods. For theoretical lessons, in addition to using images, video materials, and historical stories, she frequently organizes group discussions and case studies to help students actively engage with the knowledge. Students role-play as soldiers, civilians, or officials in situations related to national defense and security, analyzing and proposing solutions. This approach not only helps students retain knowledge better but also hones their communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities.

For practical exercises such as drill and formation, first aid techniques, casualty evacuation, or battlefield movement postures, she organizes group practice sessions for students, creating various simulated scenarios such as first aid for injuries, disaster response, or handling situations in combat conditions.

During her teaching, Ms. Trang frequently applies information technology through software such as PowerPoint, Canva, and platforms like Quizizz, Kahoot, and Google Forms to increase interaction and create interest for students. She also effectively utilizes digitized historical materials, training videos, and real-life images to enrich the content of her lectures.

Ms. Thuy Trang believes that national defense and security education not only provides military knowledge but also contributes to fostering patriotism, a sense of civic responsibility, and a spirit of protecting the homeland in students. Therefore, she always integrates content about maritime sovereignty and national security into her lectures in a natural and relatable way. She selects historical stories, images of Vietnam's islands and seas, examples of national heroes, and activities protecting border sovereignty to help students better understand the responsibility of the younger generation towards the country. Through this, students understand that patriotism is not just an emotion but is also expressed through concrete actions in their studies, work, and daily lives.

"Seeing them grow more mature each day, gaining a deeper understanding of historical traditions and the responsibility to protect the homeland, gives me even more motivation to continue dedicating myself," she confided.

The sweet fruits of dedication

Ms. Trang's tireless efforts have been recognized with many proud achievements. In 2026, she was recognized as an outstanding coach at the 4th National High School Students' National Defense and Security Education Sports Festival.

According to her, this is not only a personal joy but also a collective achievement, thanks to the attention of the education sector, the cooperation of the coaches, and the persistent efforts of the students in the team. The sports festival is also an opportunity for her to learn more, exchange expertise with colleagues nationwide, and continue to improve her teaching methods.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Principal of Luong The Vinh High School, affirmed: Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Trang is a dynamic, responsible young teacher who is always at the forefront of innovative teaching methods. She possesses a solid professional background with two university degrees in Physical Education - National Defense and National Defense Education - Security. Her achievement as an outstanding coach at the 4th National High School National Defense and Security Education Sports Festival is a well-deserved reward for her tireless efforts.

Not only is Ms. Trang a dedicated teacher, but she is also a strong source of inspiration for her students. Nguyen Tien Dung, a student in class 12A7 at Luong The Vinh High School, is one of the outstanding members of the provincial National Defense and Security Education team. At the 4th National High School National Defense and Security Education Sports Competition in 2026, Dung won the all-around encouragement award for 12th graders and achieved many excellent collective results with his teammates. Prior to that, he won first place in the 800m armed run with AK submachine gun at the 1st Provincial National Defense and Security Education Competition for High School Students in the 2025-2026 school year.

Having dedicated over 11 years to her profession, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Trang still retains the same enthusiasm she had when she first started teaching. For her, each lesson is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about sowing the seeds of patriotism, a sense of responsibility, and a desire to contribute in today's young generation.
