Staying at the construction site under the scorching sun.
Around 10 a.m., the sun began to blaze down on the construction site of the Duc Tan (Queo Thua Xuan) – National Highway 24 (urban section) in Mo Duc commune. The sounds of road rollers, asphalt pavers, and material transport vehicles echoed continuously amidst the stifling heat rising from the road under construction.
With his shirt soaked with sweat, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, a construction worker at the project, said: "It's only a little after 9 a.m. and I already feel hot and sweaty. We have to remind each other to drink water regularly, take breaks on time, and not overexert ourselves."

At 62 years old, Mr. Cuong has been working as a construction worker for over 15 years. For him, the heat is nothing new, but each summer is still a grueling journey.
"Working outdoors in the scorching sun meant constant sweating, sometimes soaking us completely. But we encouraged each other to keep going to meet the project deadline," he shared.
According to Mr. Cuong, the weather has been much hotter in recent days, especially at noon and early afternoon. Despite this, the workers continue their work, everyone is making the most of every spare moment to complete their assigned tasks.

In the scorching heat, drinking water becomes an indispensable item for outdoor workers. "We sweat a lot, so we need to drink enough water to avoid losing strength. We need to stay hydrated to work under such intense sunlight," he added.
It wasn't just Mr. Cuong; many workers on the construction site also took short breaks in the shade, wearing light, breathable clothing and constantly replenishing their water supply to minimize the risk of exhaustion from the heat.
According to Mr. Huynh Nhi, the construction technique belongs to Viet Linh Construction and Mechanical Engineering Private Enterprise, the unit currently implementing the construction of a section over 900m long, of which the asphalt concrete paving work is approximately 750m.
"Currently, there are about 15 direct laborers on the construction site, along with a team of about 10 people operating machinery and vehicles. The unit is concentrating a lot of equipment and personnel to speed up construction and try to complete it on schedule," Mr. Nhi said.

To date, the construction volume of the Duc Tan – National Highway 24 route has reached approximately 70% of the contract, and is expected to be completed before June 30, 2026.
Under the intense heat, the coordinated mobilization of mechanized equipment not only reduces manual labor but also contributes to shortening construction time. These days, as many infrastructure projects enter their final stages, images of construction teams working under the scorching sun demonstrate the great efforts of the workforce to bring the projects into use as soon as possible, serving the transportation needs of the people.

Stay healthy during the hot season.
Not only at transportation projects, but also at the project to address riverbank erosion along the Tra Cau River in Duc Pho ward, there is a sense of urgency in construction.
The project has a total embankment length of approximately 2.58km, including various components such as the South bank embankment, the North bank embankment, the Thuy Trieu bridge embankment, and 38 supporting structures along the route.

Construction began on January 1, 2026, and to date, the value of work completed has reached over 17.3 billion VND. Many items such as removing weathered soil from the embankment slope, pouring concrete for the retaining wall, placing gabions, and reinforcing the embankment base have been implemented.
However, according to the Duc Pho Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board, progress is still behind schedule due to a lack of construction space and insufficient allocation of manpower and equipment.

According to Mr. Trinh Cuong, a construction manager at Luc Viet Construction Joint Stock Company, the company has proactively adjusted its working hours to suit the weather conditions and the specific characteristics of the tidal zone.
"Workers are scheduled to start and finish early to minimize the impact of the heat. At the same time, construction must be flexible according to the ebb and flow of the tides, as the area is affected by tidal forces," Cương shared.
Currently, there are about 30 workers on the construction site. Despite the harsh weather conditions, the construction teams maintain a steady pace to ensure the project stays on schedule.

Prolonged work in high-temperature environments can lead to rapid dehydration, thermoregulation disorders, and impaired concentration. For construction workers, the risks are even greater due to the nature of their work involving machinery, working at heights, or carrying heavy materials.
Therefore, many construction companies in the area have strengthened measures to protect workers, such as changing construction hours, dividing work into smaller shifts, arranging rotational work positions, and prioritizing the construction of heavy items in the early morning or late evening.

Emphasis is also placed on disseminating information on preventing heatstroke and heat exhaustion. Workers are instructed to recognize abnormal signs such as headache, dizziness, nausea, cramps, or weakness so that they can take timely action.
Amidst the scorching summer sun, the construction site becomes a test of the endurance and willpower of the workers. Their shirts are drenched in sweat, their faces tanned by the harsh weather, yet they persevere, determined to complete the project on schedule.
