The Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts that, due to the influence of upper-level wind convergence, Hanoi will experience showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening of May 28th. Rain will begin in the following communes and wards: Thu Lam, Dong Anh, Viet Hung, Vinh Thanh, Phu Dong, Thien Loc, Phuc Thinh, Hong Ha, Phu Thuong, Bo De, Xuan Dinh, Tay Ho, Giang Vo, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem, O Cho Dua, Dong Ngac, Phu Dien, Thuong Cat... and surrounding areas. Rainfall amounts will generally be 10-20mm, with some areas receiving over 40mm.
Meteorological agencies warn that thunderstorms following hot days are often accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind, which can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, transportation infrastructure, and other facilities. Rain showers also reduce visibility for traffic and outdoor activities; people should take precautions.
