Information Technology candidates are proposed to be considered for the title of professor in 2024
The State Council of Professors recently announced the list of candidates proposed by the Basic Council of Professors to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024.
In the list of the Information Technology Professor Council, there are a total of 27 candidates, including 4 professor candidates and 23 associate professor candidates.

4 candidates in Information Technology proposed for consideration for the title of professor in 2024 are:
Associate Professor Huynh Trung Hieu, born in 1975, is currently the Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry. Mr. Hieu graduated with a master's degree in computer science from the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University); and a doctorate in computer science from Chonnam National University, Korea. Mr. Hieu's main research directions are machine learning and its applications in biomedical data analysis and patient safety.
Associate Professor Do Thanh Nghi, born in 1974, is a senior lecturer, Head of Laboratory, School of Information and Communication Technology, Can Tho University.
Associate Professor Quan Thanh Tho, born in 1976, is currently Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. He received his Bachelor of Information Technology degree from University of Technology in 1998 and his PhD from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2006. His research interests include Machine Learning, Intelligent Systems and Software Engineering.
Associate Professor Le Sy Vinh, born in 1980, works at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Associate Professor Le Sy Vinh is one of the young intellectuals who returned to work in the country after many years of studying and researching abroad. He completed his doctoral thesis in information technology at Heinrich Heine University (Germany) when he was only 25 years old. Although there were many opportunities for him to have a high-income job abroad, Mr. Vinh decided to return to his homeland with the hope that "he would have more conditions to develop and contribute toeducation ".

Mr. Le Sy Vinh won a gold medal at the 1998 International Olympiad in Informatics in Portugal (when he was a 12th grade student at Le Quy Don High School, Ha Dong) and the "Golden Globe 2008" award presented by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for young talents in the field of information technology.
This year there are a total of 673 candidates (down 22 from 2023) with 62 professor candidates and 611 associate professor candidates.
Among the 25 professorial councils of the industry and interdisciplinary sectors, the Economics Professorial Council continues to lead in the number of candidates with 108 people (6 professorial candidates and 102 associate professors).
The total number of candidates in the field of Economics increased by 6 compared to last year, but the number of candidates for professor decreased by 4 people, while the number of candidates for associate professor increased by 10 people.
Notably, two councils do not have candidates for the title of professor: Linguistics, Culture - Arts - Sports. There are up to 10 councils of disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines with only 1 candidate for professor.
Previously, on April 8, the State Council of Professors announced the schedule for considering recognition of meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2024.
The State Council of Professors will meet to consider recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024 from October 21 to October 31.
In 2023, the State Council of Professors recognized 630 teachers as meeting the standards for the titles of Professor and Associate Professor, including 58 Professors and 572 Associate Professors.
