(Fatherland) - Nguyen Ky Anh chose a slow path to feel and preserve the beauty of national heritage through the emotional "Each photo is a story", touching the hearts of millions of viewers.
For Ky Anh, each photo is a dialogue with herself and the world around her. Ky Anh wants to preserve beautiful things that are easily forgotten in the cycle of time, so that someone suddenly remembers old memories, and may have the opportunity to open them up and see. With that in mind, Ky Anh has spent most of her time recording moments of heritage vitality that are very real, seemingly small but meaningful when looking back.
Born and raised in the midst of rapid urbanization, Ky Anh is always looking for cultural features, customs and moments of time of heritage that have been forgotten or little noticed. His works often focus on rustic, simple, natural beauty so that viewers can both admire and feel the soul of each land and people along with the beauty of Vietnamese culture.
From that love, this 9x guy from Dong Thap put aside his attractive job as a creative director to spend a whole year visiting more than 30 provinces and cities across Vietnam, capturing beautiful photos of culture and heritage. Through each work, Ky Anh tries to convey the message of preserving timeless beauty and honoring the unique cultural values of each region. Because for him, each land contains a long history, cultural and social depth, and the beauty of architecture and people.
Each project is a journey of discovery and re-enactment of the very real, very Vietnamese beauty that Ky Anh wants to convey to everyone. No matter how much time passes, the photos still retain their value, reviving old emotions, leading viewers back to the throbbing past.
The most profound impression of Ky Anh is the photo series about cultural and culinary heritage such as: Golden season - Leisure season, Hue - Golden dynasty, Can Tho white rice clear water, Cho nau whirling, Heard Ca Mau is far away... which touched the hearts of many people. Each image carries a deep meaning, spreading sympathy, reminding people of respect and urging the community to strive for the quintessential values that make up the "soul" of the nation.
For Ky Anh, photography is a way for her to understand more about herself and the values she wants to preserve. Preserve the gentle slices of life. Preserve emotions, memories, and familiar values so that even when she goes far away, grows up, and gets old, she can still look back. Preserve the stories of the lands and people to cherish more the days she is living. And most of all, continue to spread beautiful emotions to many people, the beauty just keeps getting more beautiful.
So photography is not simply a beautiful frame, but the power of connection. Each image opens up deep feelings about life, helping viewers understand and love more what they have. Ky Anh always tries to touch the deep emotions in the hearts of viewers, so that the story he tells through the images can make them stop, contemplate and feel more connected to daily life. The special thing is always knowing how to listen, share and sympathize with the story of the character in the photo. Because that compassion has breathed life into each picture, making them come alive and close.
"To get the most authentic moment, you need to sit down, talk and listen to the story behind it; so that the photos have the breath and heartbeat of the people in them." Young photographer Nguyen Ky Anh
