The New York Post reported that Mr. Castro, 30 years old, went to Chase bank to withdraw money on April 26.
Castro is the sole winner of the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot in November 2022. His identity was announced on February 14 at a press conference in California, USA.
Castro won the largest lottery jackpot ever, according to Reuters . According to the California Lottery, he chose to receive the prize in a lump sum of $997.6 million, after taxes, instead of the option of receiving the larger amount over 29 years.
Splash News posted a photo of Castro appearing in front of the bank, carrying a large envelope containing cash.
After winning the lottery, Castro became the center of attention in the US as his every move was reported by the media. To ensure his safety, Castro hired a private bodyguard team and always had a group of three people on duty 24/7.
Previously, Castro had spent tens of millions of dollars buying "huge" mansions in the US, including a $4 million villa and a $25.5 million property.
Castro has not yet responded to media requests for comment, but previously released a statement expressing his feelings about winning the lottery in February: "I am extremely shocked and happy to have won the Powerball lottery, but the real winner is the California public school system."
According to the LA Times , California schools will receive $156.3 million from the lottery - a record amount in history. This is the mechanism of American lotteries, when revenue will be allocated to activities serving the common interests of the locality.
