The Painter of the Gods

In the Dao people's beliefs, worship paintings play a very important role, expressing the concept of life through human activities and gods depicted through drawings.

In the Northern mountainous region today there are very few Dao artisans following this unique painting profession.

Photographer Nguyen Huu Thong met Dao artisan Dang Phu Quyen in Thanh Long commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province and recorded his creative activities and shared about his more than 40 years of dedication to the traditional worship painting profession of his people.
