Harnessing community strength in building cultural life.

For many years, the "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement has been an important spiritual anchor for the people of Thai Nguyen province. Especially after the merger, the movement has entered a new phase of development: its scale has expanded, its quality has improved, and it has created a strong and widespread impact on the community.

The Dao ethnic people in Phu Dinh commune share their guidelines for practicing a civilized lifestyle in their residential area.

Currently, Thai Nguyen province has 92 communes and wards, thousands of residential areas with more than 414,000 households. This is a "powerful force" as the province implements the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement throughout the quarter-century period (2000-2025), and also serves as a sustainable foundation for the movement to continue developing deeply, broadly, and with quality in the new phase.

A highlight in the implementation of the Movement is the Steering Committee's flexible and synchronized integration with major programs, such as "Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," along with many campaigns of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and emulation movements of the province. This approach helps the Movement avoid being scattered and maximizes the internal resources of the people.

Through participation in the Movement, residents in residential areas directly discuss and develop regulations and customs that are appropriate to the realities of local life. Therefore, the content of the Movement is developed to be close to real life and easy to implement.

Everyday activities such as participating in environmental sanitation, behaving courteously, and obeying the law have become common standards for the community.

Thanks to this consensus, many charitable activities and mutual support within the community continue to be maintained and expanded. Typical examples include people donating land and contributing labor to build infrastructure; supporting poor households to improve their lives; and helping students from poor families attend school through the donation of bicycles and school supplies.

Thanks to community resources, the system of cultural centers and sports fields has been invested in and upgraded, creating a new look in the areas, from central wards such as Phan Dinh Phung, Gia Sang, and Quyet Thang to remote and difficult communes of the province such as Nghien Loan, Phuc Loc, and Na Phac.

Cultural centers have become familiar spaces where people meet, share their thoughts and feelings, and organize cultural, artistic, and sports club activities, preserving, transmitting, and promoting the finest cultural traditions of the nation, such as Then singing, Tinh lute playing, Khen flute dancing, Soọng Cô singing, lullabies, Ví singing, and traditional rituals of ethnic minorities.

At the village, hamlet, and neighborhood cultural centers, people can participate in conferences to disseminate information about new policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, and can also discuss common issues of the residential area.

Improved community spaces contribute to making the Movement more sustainable, cohesive, and substantive. A key innovation in implementing the Movement is the method of evaluating and recognizing cultural titles; the selection process is conducted democratically and transparently.

Each household self-assesses its participation in the Movement, scoring itself according to agreed-upon criteria and content. After the members of the Front Committee review the results, the list of culturally exemplary families is publicly posted in front of the village/hamlet/neighborhood cultural center for all citizens to participate in monitoring.

By acting fairly and impartially, without bias or prioritizing achievements for the sake of titles like "Cultural Family" or "Cultural Residential Area," the quality of these initiatives has steadily improved. As a result, in recent years, over 98% of households across the province have registered to participate in the movement, and over 90% of villages and residential areas have strived to achieve cultural standards annually.

Building on the achievements already made, the Movement continues to be implemented in the direction of building a civilized, safe, and culturally rich society. The strength of the community and the traditional values of the ethnic minorities are constantly being multiplied, creating a combined resource that contributes to the rapid, strong, and sustainable development of Thai Nguyen.
