Many mobile subscribers are becoming complacent when receiving messages requesting information verification. However, according to Circular 08, effective from April 15, 2026, ignoring these warnings and failing to verify information will result in the SIM card being blocked or even revoked after the specified period.

Upon receiving this SMS message, you need to update your SIM information immediately.
Recently, many users have received messages from their mobile network providers requesting them to check and update their subscriber information. The messages often clearly warn that failure to comply will result in the phone number being blocked, first for outgoing calls and then for both incoming and outgoing calls.
According to the network operators, the messages sent to subscribers state that the information "may be inaccurate" and request users to quickly verify it through the official application or at a transaction point.
Currently, Viettel sends SMS notifications to subscribers in several formats, such as :
[TB] Your subscriber information has been verified as NOT registered in your name. Your call and SMS service will be blocked from May 1st, 2026 if you do not update your information correctly (Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN). Do this immediately at: https://viettel.vn/Chuanhoa or at the nearest Viettel transaction point. Complete the process on time to receive a 50,000 VND bonus (applied the next day). Support: 198 (free).
From the effective date of Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN on April 15th, users must update and verify their information as required 15 days after receiving notification from the network provider. Therefore, the first group of customers at risk of having their SIM cards blocked will be those whose SIM cards are blocked on May 1st, 2026.

Unverified subscribers may have their service blocked in one direction, then in both directions, if they don't update their information promptly, causing communication disruptions.
Risk of having your number revoked.
If you continue to fail to verify your SIM card, it may be revoked, meaning you'll lose your long-used phone number.
Information security risks
Inaccurate information creates loopholes that allow phone numbers to be easily exploited, affecting personal safety.
Risks associated with fraud
Unverified subscribers make contact tracing difficult, contributing to an increase in spam calls, spam messages, and scams.
Impact on digital services
Banks, e-wallets, public services… are all linked to phone numbers. When a SIM card is disconnected or revoked, users may lose access or experience difficulties in conducting transactions.
Risks associated with SIM cards not registered in the owner's name.
It is difficult to prove ownership in case of disputes. According to regulations, the subscriber is responsible for the registered number, so SIM cards not registered in the owner's name pose legal risks.
