On the evening of March 3rd (Vietnam time), Nguyen Thuy Linh competed in the final of the 2024 German Open badminton tournament against Mia Blichfedt of Denmark, currently ranked 22nd in the world . This marks the first time in her career that a Vietnamese badminton player has reached the final of a tournament in the World Tour Super 300 system of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Against a higher-ranked opponent, Nguyen Thuy Linh was outmatched in the first set. The Vietnamese player quickly fell behind her Danish opponent in the score and lost the set 11-21.
In the second set, the disparity between the two sides continued to be evident. Nguyen Thuy Linh was unable to pull off an upset and lost the set with a score of 9-21.
Despite a 0-2 defeat, Nguyen Thuy Linh finished as runner-up at the 2024 German Open badminton tournament. The 26-year-old player received 5,950 ranking points after the tournament.
