The 2023 Thai Binh - Korea Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference was attended by former Politburo member, former President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang; Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Hoang Giang, representatives of leaders of associations and enterprises in the province.
On the Korean side, there were the participation of former Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Young Sam, along with representatives of ministries, sectors and leaders of enterprises and corporations.
On the side of Thai Binh province, there were Central Party Committee member, Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Dong Hai; Deputy Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Tien Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of local departments and branches.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than - Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee said that the 2023 Thai Binh - Korea Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference is an opportunity for Thai Binh to introduce to Korean investors and businesses its natural conditions and potential advantages in the three major fields of Investment - Trade - Tourism, creating an important premise for the long-term relationship between the two sides.
With the proactive, open and transparent thinking of provincial leaders, the open investment environment with supportive policies, high-quality public services, the shortest time to process investment procedures and the receptiveness, listening and actively removing difficulties for businesses of provincial leaders, more and more Korean investors are interested in learning about opportunities and deciding to invest in Thai Binh.
The total product in the province (GRDP) in 2023 is estimated to reach more than 68,000 billion VND, an increase of 1.3 times compared to 2020; the average growth rate in 3 years (2021-2023) is estimated to reach 8.56%/year; especially in 2023, the total registered capital of FDI projects in the province will reach over 3 billion USD; in the province, there are currently 30 projects of Korean investors operating with a total registered capital of 256 million USD.
Thai Binh province has advantages in land fund for industrial development, with 10 Industrial Parks (including 4 Industrial Parks in Economic Zones) and 49 industrial clusters formed in 7 districts and cities with a total area of nearly 3,000 hectares, cleared land and built infrastructure, always ready to welcome investors.
Thai Binh province always wishes to cooperate comprehensively with all Korean partners, including the exchange and import and export of goods; wishes to expand opportunities for cooperation in education, training, healthcare and cultural and labor exchange with localities and Korean partners in fields such as high-tech industry, mechanics, processing industry, electronics, mechanics, and support; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, tourism, etc.
Regarding people-to-people and local foreign affairs, recently, Thai Binh has established and had relationships with a number of localities in Korea such as Chungcheongbuk province, Yeongju city, Gyongsangbuk province, Icheon city, Gyeonggi province and has implemented a number of cooperation activities in various fields, especially cooperation in seasonal labor.
The Chairman of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee also said that the province will direct the Korean Investment Promotion Working Group (Korea Desk Thai Binh) and the Provincial Investment Promotion and Development Support Center to handle investment procedures and support 100% of the costs of implementing investment procedures for Korean investors.

Expressing his joy at attending the Conference, Mr. Lee Myung-bak, former President of the Republic of Korea, said that in the context of the rapidly changing and complicated situation in the world and the region, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea continue to maintain a stable development momentum; Political trust between the two countries is constantly strengthened.
Currently, Korea continues to maintain its number one position in foreign direct investment in Vietnam with a total capital of 80.5 billion USD; trade turnover reached 88 billion USD in 2022. The two countries have become "good friends, good partners and good in-laws" of each other, in particular, the two countries upgraded their relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" in 2022.
Mr. Lee Myung-bak also highly appreciated the leadership and determination of the entire provincial leadership through the Korea Desk Thai Binh model. This is a very effective model of promoting and supporting investment from Korea and has brought many positive results in attracting investment from Korean enterprises. Thereby, the former President of Korea expressed his belief that more Korean investors will learn about opportunities and decide to invest in Thai Binh.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said that the 2023 Thai Binh - Korea Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference is a continuation of the success of the Thai Binh - Korea Connection Conference in July 2022 in Thai Binh.
Vietnam and Korea have become each other's leading important partners in many fields. In that overall picture, economic cooperation is always a pillar and an important bright spot. Korea continues to hold the position of the largest investor in Vietnam with a total registered investment capital of more than 83 billion USD in Vietnam as of July 2023. In the field of trade, the current bilateral trade turnover reaches more than 90 billion USD.
In addition, Korea is also Vietnam's leading ODA, tourism and labor partner. People-to-people exchanges are increasingly bustling with more than 200,000 expatriates from each country living, studying and working in the other country. The two countries will continue to improve the quality and promote the pillar role of economic, trade and investment cooperation; strive to soon complete the bilateral trade turnover target of 100 billion USD by 2023 and aim for 150 billion USD by 2030.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang welcomed and highly appreciated Thai Binh province for proactively and actively coming up with ideas and organizing the Cultural Exchange Program - connecting Vietnamese - Korean businesses "Thai Binh Homecoming Day" with a series of important events, including the Thai Binh - Korean Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference today.

Within the framework of the Conference, Thai Binh province granted investment registration certificates to Hitejinro Company to invest in a project in Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park (Thai Thuy), with a total investment capital of 100 million USD; HuM&C Company to invest in a project in Tien Hai Industrial Park (Tien Hai), with a total investment capital of 6 million USD; SH TECH Company Limited to invest in a project in Vu Hoi Industrial Cluster (Vu Thu), with a total investment capital of 3.5 million USD.
