Transportation contractors have meticulously prepared contingency plans for the arrival of Typhoon No. 6.

Regarding the response to Typhoon No. 6, in an interview with Giao Thong Newspaper, the leader of the XL1 contract management board of the North-South Expressway project, section Bung - Van Ninh ( thuộc Cienco4 Group), said that from noon today (October 26), the project construction area began to experience strong winds.

Cienco4 Group is making the most of the favorable weather conditions before the storm to construct the Bung - Van Ninh expressway.

However, all construction teams, from road foundation and bridge construction to embankment reinforcement (both positive and negative slopes), are making the most of the rain-free period, starting work early this morning. "By late this afternoon, the machinery had been moved to a higher location to avoid the impact of rain and storms," a representative from Cienco4 informed.

According to the head of the XL1 contract management board, following the directives of Project Management Board 6 (the investor) and the group's leadership, the contractor has strengthened its permanent flood and storm prevention and control team on-site to monitor and direct operations.

"Fortunately, Cienco4 has now completed the installation of girders for bridges over major streams and rivers. Some bridges have already been paved and had expansion joints installed, so the contractor is now focusing on raising machinery and equipment and clearing the riverbeds and stream beds."

On the main route, the roadbed has been laid. In areas with deep excavations on the embankment slopes, we are accelerating the pouring of drainage ditches and clearing the longitudinal drainage system so that water can drain promptly during heavy rains.

"During the rainy period, all engineers and workers will remain at the construction site to ensure that construction can resume immediately once the weather stabilizes," a representative of Cienco4 Group informed.

Regarding the construction of nearly 7km of the main route (including the interchange) and 2.5km of connecting branch routes, Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Ba, Director of Operations (under General Corporation 36), said that today, about 150 personnel along with more than 100 machines and equipment of the unit are still taking advantage of the few favorable periods before the storm to maintain construction.

To date, the contractor has paved 3.5km of asphalt concrete and constructed 5km of cement-stabilized crushed stone base.

"Regarding the response to Typhoon No. 6, in addition to tasks such as reinforcing the control room area and workers' shelters on the embankment, the contractor also paid special attention to reviewing areas where embankments were raised and covered with tarpaulins to prevent landslides on the slopes," Mr. Ba shared.

Protecting the construction site of the embankment slope is a top priority for contractors when implementing flood response plans.

Regarding the construction of nearly 50km of the main section of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project, a representative of Truong Thinh Group stated that the contractor's storm response plan at the site has been basically completed, especially the living quarters for engineers and workers, which have been securely braced.

"Currently, there has been no rain in the project area, so more than 1,000 engineers and workers of Truong Thinh Group are still working on the construction site, carrying out the tasks as usual to increase production. By the end of today, all machinery and equipment will be gathered at a higher location."

"During the storm, the contractor's dedicated team will be on constant standby to ensure that the waterways are cleared and the construction site is safe," a leader of Truong Thinh Group informed.

As the leading contractor consortium for the North-South expressway project, specifically the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, Deo Ca Group also promptly requested that construction teams implement measures to respond to Typhoon No. 6.

At the project site, contractors reviewed the construction areas, cleared drainage systems and bridge and culvert structures; implemented measures to protect unreinforced embankment slopes, and opened up waterways at temporary construction sites.

"Vehicles, machinery, and equipment... have been gathered in a dry location with a good drainage system. For the Executive Office and workshops, the contractor has inspected, rectified, and added bracing and screws, secured the roof corners, added roof supports, and placed sandbags."

"Specialized personnel are also stationed 24/7, maintaining a full complement of equipment operators, electricians, and emergency response teams on site to promptly deploy for relocation or emergency response. Regarding tunnel construction, under normal weather conditions, the contractor continues construction as usual," said Mr. Ngo Truong Nam, General Director of Deo Ca Group.

Previously, in a directive on responding to Typhoon No. 6, the Ministry of Transport requested the Construction Investment Management Department to instruct investors and contractors to immediately implement typhoon response measures, prepare conditions to promptly khắc phục construction incidents; and coordinate to ensure smooth traffic flow on national highways and expressways under construction.
