On December 31st, the weather was gloomy in the afternoon, and the beach along Tran Phu Street in Nha Trang City was sparsely populated with locals swimming. At 2/4 Square, several stages for large music concerts and countdown events were completed, preparing many attractive programs to entertain tourists on New Year's Eve.
Similarly, the Nha Trang Tourist Pier, under the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, was also quite deserted. A representative from the pier said that on that day, there were tourists taking sea and island tours in Nha Trang Bay to destinations such as Bai Tranh Tourist Area, Coral Bay, and Mini Beach.

"The pier served 205 boat trips, carrying over 3,000 tourists on sea and island tours, including about 2,000 foreign visitors, mostly from South Korea and China. The number of visitors on December 31st was estimated to be the highest during the three-day holiday," this person said.
Other tourist attractions such as the Oceanographic Institute and the Ponagar Tower also saw fewer visitors. Many locals said that during the winter months, people tend to travel to Da Lat, Lam Dong province, for tourism, so Nha Trang is less crowded than during the summer tourist season.
According to Cam Ranh International Airport, during the New Year holiday period, the airport is expected to serve approximately 313 flights, carrying around 51,000 passengers. This includes 169 international flights with approximately 31,000 passengers and 144 domestic flights with nearly 20,000 passengers. On average, there are about 100 flights taking off and landing at Cam Ranh International Airport each day.
According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa is in the low season with a continued decrease in domestic tourists, while the international market remains stable.

In Vung Tau , tourists enjoyed swimming and relaxing on the beaches during the New Year's holiday, which were not overly crowded despite the sunny weather and gentle breeze. On the nearly 10-kilometer-long Bai Sau beach, crowds only increased after 4 PM in the section from the Bai Sau flagpole to the headquarters of the Tourist Management and Support Center.
Often taking her family to Vung Tau for holidays, Ms. Hoai from Bien Hoa City was quite surprised to find the beach less crowded. Many restaurants she visited still had empty tables. "Not having to jostle and wait like usual, I found this holiday quite enjoyable and fulfilling," Ms. Hoai said.
Those who rent out umbrellas, chairs, and inflatable floats on the beach say the number of customers using their services has dropped sharply.
"Due to the difficult economic situation, people rarely sit on the chairs, or they only rent a chair for 50,000 dong to store their belongings," one person said.
According to a report from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Department of Tourism, on December 31st, the province estimated it welcomed over 91,000 visitors, generating revenue of over 67 billion VND. Of these, Vung Tau accounted for more than half.
On the second day of the holiday, Da Lat city was not as crowded as in previous years. The streets were relatively clear, allowing for smooth traffic flow. Popular tourist attractions such as Da Lat Flower Garden, Datanla Waterfall, Da Lat Cable Car, Bao Dai Palace, and food and taxi services did not experience overcrowding.

On this occasion, Da Lat City officially launched a 24/7 food court in front of Da Lat Flower Garden, open from 5 PM to 5 AM the following morning on weekdays, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to enjoy the food and drinks. The food court has over 50 stalls, including 30 stalls offering specialties from Da Lat, some other localities in Vietnam, and even characteristic dishes from abroad.
Last night, Da Lat city celebrated its 130th anniversary, with nearly 20,000 tourists and locals flocking to the area around Xuan Huong Lake to watch the music program and fireworks display. Lam Vien Square was packed with people.

In Quang Ninh , on December 31st, Ha Long International Cruise Port welcomed two major cruise ships that brought nearly 3,700 European and American tourists to visit Quang Ninh's famous tourist destinations. Among them, the Vasco Da Gama (Portuguese nationality) docked at Ha Long for the first time, bringing nearly 650 German tourists. The Celebrity Solstice (Maltese nationality) has docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port five times in 2023, carrying over 3,000 European and American tourists. This is also one of the largest groups of tourists since October 2023.
However, the number of domestic tourists was quite low as people chose to return to their hometowns to rest with relatives or travel to China for short trips through border crossings. On December 30th and 31st, thousands of people completed immigration procedures at the Mong Cai international border gate.
Destinations in the northern mountainous regions, such as Lao Cai and Ha Giang, are experiencing high visitor numbers as predicted, due to their proximity to Hanoi and the current beautiful season. Hotel and homestay occupancy rates are estimated to be over 90%. Today, many tourists had to queue for 2-3 hours at the cable car station to ascend Fansipan peak in Sa Pa.
