Archery in Ho Chi Minh City is gaining increasing popularity.

On the first day of competition, the archery event at the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival 2026 attracted over a hundred athletes, demonstrating the growing popularity of this sport.

On the morning of May 23rd, the first events of the archery competition at the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival officially commenced at Lam Son Stadium (Vung Tau Ward). This tournament is an opportunity for athletes to gain experience and prepare well for the National Sports Festival taking place later this year.

According to the organizers, the archery competition at the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival will attract 140 athletes from 18 wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City.

This number is many times higher than in previous archery competitions in the city, showing that the sport is gaining popularity among young people.

To participate in this tournament, most of the archers traveled over 100km from central wards of Ho Chi Minh City to the competition venue in Vung Tau ward. Despite this, the archers showed no signs of fatigue; on the contrary, they competed enthusiastically, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the city's archery festival.

On the other hand, some athletes arrived in Vung Tau ward on May 20th to familiarize themselves with the grounds and weather conditions, thereby ensuring they are in the best possible frame of mind for competition. One of them is archer Tran Nguyen Quan (32 years old) - an athlete from Cho Lon ward.

Sharing his thoughts before the competition, archer Nguyen Quan excitedly said: “Seriously, archery isn't as lively as some other sports. However, the archery competition at the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival 2026 provides athletes with a professional and formal competition environment. From there, we can feel the atmosphere of an archery festival.”

According to Le Thanh Hao, an archer from Saigon Ward, the archery competition at the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival, although a grassroots event, has attracted many professional athletes. "This is a very encouraging sign, showing the quality and prestige of the tournament for the archery movement in Ho Chi Minh City," archer Thanh Hao shared.

Archery is one of the most anticipated events at the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival. The competitions will take place from May 23rd to 28th.
