The issue has been reported on a number of Android devices, from Samsung to Pixel, and users have been reporting it on Google forums and Reddit. Although TeamYouTube has responded and asked for bug reports to be sent for investigation, there is still no update to fix it, forcing users to temporarily switch to streaming music or install an older version of the app.

As users rushed to complete holiday playlists, many YouTube Music Premium accounts were suddenly experiencing issues: downloaded tracks wouldn't play. Offline content that had previously worked fine now just looped endlessly, while streaming continued as normal.
According to PiunikaWeb, the number of complaints about this error is increasing sharply on the Google support forum and Reddit. Some Galaxy S24 Ultra users said that they tried all the familiar remedies such as clearing the cache, deleting the application data, reinstalling the old version... but the error still occurred as soon as they downloaded any song; some people had to completely disable the download feature to be able to listen to music.
Multiple Reddit posts show the same pattern: music streams fine the first time, but immediately crashes after downloading. One Pixel 10 Pro user suspects the latest Android update is to blame, while others report the issue persists on older Samsung devices.
One user even reported that the download failed to complete on a smartwatch connected to a phone, leading many to speculate that the issue may be Android-related, as iOS devices appear to be unaffected.
Some Redditors have suggested the glitch coincided with the launch of YouTube Music 2025 Recap, though there’s no evidence to support it. Another user said the glitch happened when they renewed their Premium subscription, but that’s likely just a coincidence.
The workarounds being shared are not very effective. Deleting all downloads and just listening to music online is the way many people try, but it's clearly not a worthy experience for a paid service that's designed for offline listening. One user reported that they fixed the problem by installing an older version of YouTube Music from APKMirror, which isn't suitable for most users.
In response, TeamYouTube responded in the main Reddit thread, asking users to submit bug reports directly from the app to help with the investigation. There is currently no official patch, meaning those experiencing the “spin-loader” bug will likely be unable to listen to music offline until Google releases a new update.
