The issue has appeared on numerous Android devices, from Samsung to Pixel, prompting continuous complaints from users on Google and Reddit forums. Although TeamYouTube has responded and requested bug reports for investigation, there is still no update to fix it, forcing users to temporarily switch to streaming music online or install an older version of the app.

As users rushed to finalize their holiday playlists, many YouTube Music Premium accounts unexpectedly encountered problems: downloaded tracks were unplayable. Offline content that had previously worked fine now displayed an infinite download loop, while streaming continued as normal.
According to PiunikaWeb, the number of complaints about this bug is increasing sharply on Google's support forums and Reddit. Some Galaxy S24 Ultra users report that they have tried all the usual fixes such as clearing the cache, deleting app data, reinstalling an older version, etc., but the bug still occurs whenever they download any song; some have had to completely disable the download feature to be able to listen to music.
Numerous Reddit posts show the same error pattern: music streams normally the first time, but immediately crashes with a "freezing" error once it's downloaded. One Pixel 10 Pro user suspects the cause is the latest Android update, while others report the issue persists on older Samsung devices.
Furthermore, one user reported that the download process couldn't even complete on their smartwatch connected to their phone. This led many to speculate that the bug might be related to Android, as iOS devices didn't seem to be affected.
Some comments on Reddit suggest the issue occurred around the time of the YouTube Music 2025 Recap release, although there is currently no concrete evidence. Another user stated that the error happened when they renewed their Premium plan, but this is likely just a coincidence.
The temporary solutions being shared are not very effective. Deleting all downloaded content and only listening to music online is a common approach, but this is clearly not an experience worthy of a paid service designed for offline music listening. One user reported fixing the error by installing an older version of YouTube Music from APKMirror – a solution unsuitable for the majority of average users.
In response, TeamYouTube has addressed the main discussion thread on Reddit, urging users to report bugs directly from the app to assist in the investigation. Currently, there is no official patch, meaning those experiencing the “spin-loader” bug will likely be unable to listen to music offline until Google releases a new update.
