2025 will be the first year to implement the high school graduation exam under the new generaleducation program.

The 2025 High School Graduation Exam will have some adjustments compared to the current graduation exam. Although the main purpose is to consider recognizing high school graduation, there will be adjustments in the form of questions, question formats and adherence to the spirit of competency assessment.

The English exam also follows that spirit but focuses on evaluating candidates' reading comprehension skills, information analysis and logical organization of ideas.

According to experts from the Hoc Mai Education System, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam sample test includes 40 questions with a test time of 50 minutes.

In which, the pronunciation test (2 questions) includes pronunciation of vowels and consonants. The stress test has 2 questions including stress from 2 syllables and 3 syllables.

Sentence completion test consists of 5 sentences) corresponding to 4 grammar topics and one sentence about vocabulary. Complete the advertisement/announcement content, this is a new type of exercise.

Questions, integrating grammar and vocabulary topics such as: prepositions; articles; word classes; passive; conditional sentences; vocabulary.

Although still grammar topics, students need to read and understand information in a text. The level is more difficult, more differentiated than completing sentences with single words.

The test also requires you to arrange the sentences into a complete paragraph/letter. This is also a new type of question.

Each paragraph consists of 5 or 6 sentences. The positions are jumbled and need to be read to understand the meaning and rearrange them in the correct order. This type of exercise requires reading comprehension skills, vocabulary, and logic in arranging ideas.

Requiring candidates to complete a passage using missing information. This is a new type of question compared to the current TNTHPT exam.

Instead of just filling in each blank word, this type of exercise requires students to have deep, logical reading comprehension and strong grammar to choose the correct phrases/sentences to fill in the blanks.

Accordingly, the test requires candidates to complete the passage with the missing words: relative pronouns; conjunctions; vocabulary; conjunctions. This type of question is familiar with the previous test structure.

The reading comprehension section has 2 passages: Reading comprehension with 5 questions and Reading comprehension with 7 questions. These 2 types of passages retain the common exam structure.

Main content of the lesson, detailed questions; vocabulary questions; pronoun replacement questions; find antonyms; inference questions.

Experts say that, it can be said that the exam still has familiar types of questions such as pronunciation, stress, sentence completion, paragraph completion with single words, reading comprehension, but besides that, the previously common types of questions such as error correction, sentence rewriting, sentence connection, communication functions have disappeared and are replaced by types of questions such as completing paragraphs with phrases/sentences, completing information of advertisements/announcements, and arranging the order of paragraphs/letters.

It is clear that the level of difficulty is higher, the classification is stronger and focuses on students' reading comprehension skills, information analysis and logical organization, closely following the orientation of the Competency Assessment test. With this test, universities can confidently use it for university admission.
