'New factor' helps Vietnam team defeat Cambodia team in SEA V.League volleyball tournament

Today (July 16) in Indonesia, the Vietnamese team defeated the Cambodian team with a score of 3-0 in the opening match of the second leg of the Southeast Asian men's volleyball tournament (SEA V.League).

The Cambodian team was considered the underdog, but coach Tran Dinh Tien was still cautious when fielding the main players Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Quan Trong Nghia, Tran Duy Tuyen, Truong The Khai, Dinh Van Duy. Setter Phan Cong Duc and spiker Nguyen Thanh Hai, after entering the court in the second half of game 1, continued to play well in game 2, helping the Vietnamese volleyball team maintain a slight advantage over the Cambodian team. Pham Quoc Du's excellence reduced the scoring pressure for Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, allowing the number 1 spiker of the Vietnamese volleyball team to distribute his strength appropriately. There were no surprises in game 2 when Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates won quite easily with a score of 25/19 against the Cambodian team.

The Cambodian players tried their best in game 3 but were "powerless" because the Vietnamese players showed a higher level. Pham Quoc Du continued to be given many balls to attack and this "strange face" continued to shine, he was the one who scored the decisive point to help the Vietnamese team win 25/21 against the Cambodian team in game 3, thereby closing the final victory 3-0. Besides Quoc Du, the duo Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Quan Trong Nghia also achieved an impressive scoring difference to help the Vietnamese team temporarily lead the rankings of the second stage of the SEA V.League volleyball tournament.

At 7 p.m. tomorrow (July 17), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will compete in the second round of the 2025 SEA V.League, facing host Indonesia. In the first round, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates lost 2-3 to their opponents.
