U.23 Vietnam maintains top position
In the early match at 4pm on September 6, the U.23 Yemen team had a hard-fought 1-0 victory over U.23 Bangladesh. This result helped the West Asian team close the first two matches with 6 points and a goal difference of 3/1, in the race with U.23 Vietnam.
The U.23 Vietnam team then stepped onto the Viet Tri field with many changes in the starting lineup and had a rather difficult first half against U.23 Singapore, but left the field with a 1-0 overall victory, with Van Thuan scoring (minute 79).
This minimal victory was enough for the U.23 Vietnam team to maintain the top position in Group C, the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship qualifiers, with the same 6 points as U.23 Yemen but ranked above their opponents thanks to a superior goal difference (+3 compared to +2), creating a big advantage before entering the final match.

The situation of Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers is now clear, as the Vietnam U23 team only needs to draw in the final match against Yemen U23 (at 7:00 p.m. on September 9) to secure a ticket to the final round as the top of Group C.
On the contrary, the U.23 Yemen team will have to win the final match against the home team if they want to turn the tables. It should also be added that the U.23 Yemen team played at Viet Tri Stadium 2 years ago and lost to the U.23 Vietnam team 0-1 after a goal by Bui Vi Hao.
In the match taking place earlier at 4:00 p.m., U.23 Singapore will face U.23 Bangladesh in a match for honor, when both will fight to find their first victory after 2 previous losses.
