O Mon IV gas-fired thermal power plant uses Mitsubhishi turbines

Mitsubishi Power has just announced that it has won a cooperation contract with Doosan Enerbility Co to supply two advanced M701JAC gas turbines and auxiliary equipment for the O Mon IV Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) Power Plant.

On its website, Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific said the deal was signed in August 2025.

O Mon IV Thermal Power Plant has a designed capacity of 1,155 MW invested by the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group ( Petrovietnam ), with the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract awarded to the consortium of Doosan Enerbility (Korea) and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2) .

This is also the first project in Vietnam that Mitsubishi Power supplies two JAC gas turbines - recognized as the world's most efficient large-frame turbines, with combined cycle efficiency of over 64% and proven reliability over 3 million operating hours.

The O Mon IV Power Plant Project will increase Petrovietnam's total installed capacity to more than 9,300 MW . The project is part of the Block B - O Mon Gas Power Project chain .

  On June 6, 2025, Petrovietnam signed the EPC contract of the O Mon IV Thermal Power Project and Petrovietnam started construction of the Project on August 19, 2025 in Can Tho with an expected completion date of 2028.

This event marks an important milestone in the roadmap to realize the Block B - O Mon Gas - Power Project Chain, one of the national key energy projects, aiming at the goal of developing clean, modern and sustainable energy in Vietnam in the coming period.
