YouTube has just updated its iOS application to version 20.22.1, requiring devices to run iOS 16 or higher to be able to install and use.
This change means that a number of older iPhone and iPad models will no longer be directly compatible with the YouTube app.
According to information from MacRumors , the affected iPhone models include the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE.
Additionally, the 7th generation iPod Touch is also on the list of devices that are no longer supported.

Many older iPhone models no longer support the YouTube app (Photo: Tom's Guide).
For iPad users, the YouTube app has also upgraded its requirement to iPadOS 16 or later, making it impossible for iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 models to continue using the app.
While the dedicated app is not available, users of affected devices can still access and watch YouTube videos through a web browser.
However, this experience is warned to be significantly cut back on features and performance compared to using the native app.
