11 days off with full pay
While the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs is seeking opinions on the proposal for the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday for officials, civil servants and public employees, many businesses have announced their holiday and Tet holiday schedules in 2025.
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that the company's board of directors has planned a holiday for the 2025 Lunar New Year.
Accordingly, employees will have 11 days off, from January 26, 2025 (December 27, year of the Dragon) to February 5, 2025 (January 8, year of the Snake).
As a company specializing in the production of electrical wiring systems for automobiles, many of the company's 12,000 employees live far from home. Therefore, according to Ms. Nhung, this is an opportunity for employees to return home to reunite with their families. Therefore, the company hopes that they will have more time to celebrate the traditional New Year of the nation.
Not only in 2025, in previous years, businesses have arranged about 11 days off for Lunar New Year for employees, more than the prescribed days off for civil servants and public employees.
According to Ms. Nhung, increasing the number of Tet holidays and workers still receive full salary during these days. This is also a policy to encourage workers to become more and more attached to the company.
Plan your holidays early
“Every year, around May and June, the company sets up holidays and Tet for the following year to plan business, export and import of goods appropriately,” said Mr. Pham Vu Binh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nissei Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. (Thang Long Industrial Park, Hanoi ).
Therefore, at this time, the company has a schedule for the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday. Specifically, employees will have a holiday from January 25 (December 26) to February 3 (January 6), lasting 10 consecutive days.
Compared to the proposed state holiday schedule, the company has 1 more day off after Tet.
“The traditional Tet holiday has a special meaning to Vietnamese people. Therefore, the company always creates conditions for employees to have a long holiday to gather with their families and visit relatives,” Mr. Binh shared.
The company has many workers in distant provinces such as Ha Tinh and Nghe An. At the end of the year, the roads are crowded, so workers will be more proactive in arranging suitable travel days when they have a long break.
This is also information that most of the company's employees support. Therefore, every year, the union always listens to the opinions of the workers to make appropriate proposals.
In addition, the company also provides additional transportation support for workers at the end of the year. Workers can proactively rent or book a car to travel with their family and relatives for convenience.
Recently, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has sent a request for opinions from ministries and branches on the Lunar New Year holiday plan to submit to the Prime Minister for state sector workers.
According to the proposal of this Ministry, for Lunar New Year 2025, cadres, civil servants and public employees can have 9 consecutive days off.
Specifically, the official Tet holiday schedule is from Monday, January 27, 2025, which is December 28, the year of the Dragon, through December 29 and the 3 days of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of Tet, which is the end of Friday, January 31, 2025.
However, immediately before the 5 official holidays are 2 weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, January 25-26, 2025. After the official holidays come the next 2 weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, February 1-2, 2025.
So in fact, the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday will start from Saturday, January 25, 2025 to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie the end of January 5, At Ty year).
With the Tet holiday being 5 working days a week like this, civil servants and public employees will have their holiday extended to 9 consecutive days (including 5 official Tet holidays and 4 weekly days off).
