Responding to the call of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, as of 11am on August 22, millions of contributions from organizations, localities and people nationwide have raised 365.6 billion VND to support the Cuban people. These acts of kindness continue to write a beautiful story about the loyal and steadfast solidarity between the two nations.

On August 22, the Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized the launching ceremony of the program "Vietnamese Youth join hands to support Cuba" across the entire system of Youth Unions, Associations, and Pioneers at all levels, lasting until October 16, 2025.

At the ceremony, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy called on union members, youth, association members, and children nationwide, depending on their conditions, to make practical contributions both materially and spiritually to share difficulties with the Cuban people. He suggested that all levels of the Youth Union, Association, and Pioneers strengthen propaganda about the Vietnam-Cuba friendship, organize many forms of direct and online fundraising, such as: donating at branch and association activities, flag-raising ceremonies; scanning QR codes to transfer money via mobile applications; and donating on the website of the Vietnam Red Cross Society .

Along with that are creative activities in schools such as writing letters, drawing pictures, making wall newspapers, composing poems about Vietnam - Cuba friendship; implementing the "small plan" movement to raise funds to support Cuban children.

On August 21, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education also organized the program "Mobilizing and supporting the Cuban people - 65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship". Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President, President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, together with leaders and staff of the Central Association, Citizen and Encouragement of Education e-magazine, and Dan Tri Publishing House directly participated in the donation, demonstrating their sense of responsibility and friendship with international friends.

In Quang Tri, on August 20, the Provincial Police launched a fundraising campaign to support the Cuban people, raising more than 350 million VND. One day later, at the preparatory session of the 1st Congress of the Nam Trach Commune Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, cadres, party members and people in the commune raised more than 500 million VND - the largest amount of money in a locality in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Party Secretary of the commune Tran Van Thang recalled the immortal words of Cuban leader Fidel Castro: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood", affirming that the Vietnamese people always remember the sincere and wholehearted help that Cuba has given to Vietnam. He also recalled President Fidel Castro's historic visit to Quang Binh and Quang Tri in 1973, along with the decision to build the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, a vivid demonstration of the special solidarity between the two peoples.

The national launching ceremony of the program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" was chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, in coordination with central departments, ministries, branches and organizations on August 13. The program takes place over 65 days (August 13 - October 16, 2025) to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and foster the special friendship between the two peoples.

According to the Vietnam Red Cross Society, by 11am on August 22, the program had received 1.84 million contributions, with a total amount of 365.6 billion VND. This is not only a number of sharing, but also a vivid proof of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years. Since the difficult days, the two nations have stood shoulder to shoulder, today millions of Vietnamese hearts continue to send their loyal feelings to Cuba, continuing the beautiful story of steadfast international solidarity.
